Hiding symptoms at work

Hi guys, So I know it's pretty early to be thinking about this but I know morning sickness may be around the corner  :# and just wondering how does everyone hide this at work?

I'm a teacher so dashing to the bathroom every 10 mins may not be an option for me  :|

Re: Hiding symptoms at work

  • I've got a similar problem - I go back to work in a few weeks and will be sat on a checkout :/ so I'm not gonna have much of a choice but to tell at least a few people, otherwise they'll think I'm just taking the mick!

  • It's reall hard to hide symptoms at work... From the constant eating, th MS and the dragging your a** around like a zombie.

I only gor caught with the MS once and found I had time (just) to excuse myself and race to the bathroom.

Zippy lock bags and in the car for unexpected MS are very handy, along with mints and baby wipes.

I got asked by a colleague if I was eating for 2 because I was eating all the time to try and reduce the nausea. Ginger tea and other ginger product were handy.

People may guess and they may make inappropriate comments or questions. just have a response prepared for the time it happens but ultimately, you may not be able to hide!! Just stay healthy, comfortable and do what you gotta to stay sane.
  • The ziploc Baggie is a great idea! I've been thinking about that because I have a 45 minute commute to and from work.

I'm a teacher too. Are there any classrooms near you that have an aide? I told my classroom neighbors early I was preggo, so if I needed to run out their aide could come in and cover for me for a few minutes.

  • Keep a grocery bag with you at all times if the ms is bad just in case. Ginger ale might be your new BFF. Ginger tea is another good one. the tiredness is the hardest to hide I think. There's no shame in telling one or two people at work so they can come help you if you need it. I know my friends who are teachers just ended up telling early because they had to dash out occasionally. Good luck!
