Before anything else, I want to give everyone big creepy internet hugs.

Here we go, I'll try to keep it short as possible. This is my first pregnancy. I had some spotting at 6 weeks. I went for a transvaginal ultrasound at my regular office and have never felt pain like that in my life. She was so rough and I wanted to knock her out. I usually see a midwife so she goes to get a dr instead of her. Well that dr told me it was a cornual pregnancy and my uterus was most likely going to rupture. He sends me to a high risk dr the next day. They do another transvaginal and it was no pain at all! They couldn't really tell, so I had to come back the next week. Next week comes and they say yeah, looks high, but your uterus shouldn't rupture, come back next week. Next week comes and I should be 8 weeks but baby is only measuring 6w4d (was only measuring 6w3d week before). Come back next week (today). Baby hasn't grown at all but still has a heartbeat. Dr says she has never seen a case like this and fully expected the baby to have no heartbeat today. Now I have to go back in 2 weeks.

They have made it pretty clear I am going to miscarry but I just can't understand why I have to keep going back and why this is taking forever. Living in limbo is a special kind of torture. Can anyone relate with the baby not growing but still having a heartbeat? It's so confusing.

@ktcakes87 I am so sorry you are going through this and that you are not getting clear answers. Being in limbo is terrible. I had a loss but my baby's heartbeat was gone when we found out so my experience is a bit different, Maybe your body hasn't caught up with the fact that this isn't a viable pregnancy which is why it's taking so long. . Out of curiosity are they monitoring your HCG levels to make sure they are going up? I hope this all gets resolved for you soon. Hugs to you.

Nope, they haven't checked HCG levels at all. They haven't given me any hope that this could be a viable pregnancy other than the doctor I met 3 weeks ago (I normally see a midwife) said he's "seen stranger things happen". I don't like him at all or appreciate the way he talked to me either time we spoke.

The doctor today telling me she has never seen anything like this (baby not growing at all for three weeks but still has a heartbeat) is just confusing the heck out of me.

I am sorry for what you are going through. Big creepy internet hugs back at you. I found out that my baby had no hb at 11 weeks, but the baby hadn't grown really past 8 weeks. Testing afterwards showed a chromosomal defect that can result in delayed growth (and eventual death), so it is possible that we could have had a similar no or minimal growth w/a hb if we had done more ultrasounds. My body still very much wanted to be pregnant--hcg was high, and had morning sickness up until my d&c. I still have retained tissue after the d&c and a round of cytotec.

Is it an option to see another doctor? Maybe an MFM rather than an OB or a midwife? It also seems like getting a few hcg data points could give you more info.

I'm very sorry. This journey is awful and stressful.

For me, I went in for my first scan at 7 weeks. I had horrible back pain. The baby measured 5+3. They had me come in the following week. The baby had a heart beat and now measured 7 weeks. The next week, we were hopeful and the baby measured 6+6 and no longer had a heart beat. I had a d&c

@BrightenMySky the doctor I have been seeing since the first day I started spotting is a MFM dr. The one I don't like is at my regular office. I've seen two different doctors at the MFM place.

Thanks for sharing your stories ladies. I'm guessing when I go back in two weeks the baby won't have a heartbeat. I'm just hoping to have a natural miscarriage because reading stories about the medicine has scared the crap out of me. Having a d&c also doesn't sound pleasant.

I know nobody here can give me answers but it feels good to vent.

I have no advice but wanted to say I'm so sorry. The waiting but still hanging onto a glimmer of hope is so painful and heartbreaking. Thinking of you.
