Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Moving here from Aug 2016 board

What a weekend. Went in for my regular OB appt on Friday afternoon, should have been 13 weeks. Doc could not find heartbeat with Doppler. I somehow did not panic as she left the room to get the ultrasound machine. Ultrasound showed baby but she could not find a heartbeat. She measured the fetus and I saw 12 week 2 day pop up and I knew then it was over. She brought in a 2nd doctor to confirm and even did transvag to really make sure. Nothing. I lost it. Luckily my husband was with me. I could tell my OB was just as sad as we are - she got us through a difficult pregnancy 2 years ago. I'm now scheduled for a D and C tomorrow. I'm happy to get the pregnancy done at this point. I'm still having symptoms and look pregnant (3rd pregnancy so I've been in maternity clothes a few weeks).

Luckily, my work has been understanding and I'm taking the week OFF. As a college professor at the end of winter quarter I thought it would be impossible but my department head has stepped up and is teaching my class this week and my colleague and I cancelled our scheduled labs for another course.

But this whole thing has just been a roller coaster from the moment I peed on a stick. The pregnancy was not exactly planned but I was ecstatic. I struggled through a rough first trimester that included morning sickness and an SCH that caused lots of spotting and bleeding. My husband is excited to try again, but I just can't imagine struggling through a first trimester again....

Re: Moving here from Aug 2016 board

  • I am so sorry.  I found out at my regular OB appt at 11 weeks.  It is devastating.  Still had morning sickness right up until the d&c.  Sending you hugs, and I hope the d&c goes smoothly and that you recover quickly.  Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and feelings here.  This is a terrible board to find yourself on, but there are amazing and strong ladies here.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I moved from the september2016 board.

it is so nice that your colleagues are stepping up and helping you in such ways, I am glad you have their support.

as I am still waiting before TTC again I feel your fear. I am scared too. This has been so hard to handle, I could never imagine to feel this kind of sadness. But I have found a lot of support and understand on this board and I am thankful. I hope you find it useful as well.

  • I'm so sorry. I'm a fellow August '16-er

The positive (as if there is one) thing about a d&c is that the pregnancy symptoms calm down fairly quickly. Morning sickness ceased almost immediately for me.
  • @ladipale I'm so sorry for your loss- all the ladies on this board understand your pain and understand what you are going through. We are all here for you. Hugs to you.

  • I'm also here from the August board :( I had a d&c on February 23rd to remove the placenta... My water broke at home and I delivered the baby within minutes. It was also my 3rd pregnancy and I was 15 weeks. After the d & c my pregnancy symptoms were gone. It's so hard and something nobody should have to go through.
