Infertility

Husband just lost his job.

Hey all. We were definitely nervous about this for some time, but my DH just lost his job. My heart is pounding out of my chest right now. We just ordered our meds and everything. Hopefully insurance still covered them due to when they were purchased. That'd be good at least...
We were down here in the US on a visa for his job, so now have to leave the country and everything.
Looks like IVF for us is postponed until further notice. Very stressful morning trying to wrap my head around it all.
If I disappear for a while you know why. I'll probably still be blogging but it might be too hard for me to watch and support others as they move forward on their journey at this time.
Wishing you all loads of success.
If you believe in prayer or positive thinking, we could use all the help in the world.
Thanks for all your kind words over the course of my time here.

Re: Husband just lost his job.

  • Oh wow, what a stressfull and horrible day for you.

Like you haven't got enough to deal with already.

I am definitely sending you lost of positive thinking and I found out prayers don't do any harm, so I'll started doing them too.

Hope you don't have to put your life on hold too long, and that you'll find out where you end up soon.

Keep breathing, keep believing and keep strong.

Only badasses get this much crap, so you are the queen of badass right now! You can do this. xoxo

I would check into when the insurance is terminated as often companies have a short period of continuation of insurance (usually 30-45 days) and maybe you can squeeze in an IVF before then?? I'll keep reading your blog. Big big (creepy internet) hugs to you.

  • Ugh I am so sorry for such shitty news . My heart goes out to you and your DH . I hope that your plans are not put on hold for too long . This process is already a bitch and having other things happen that are out of your control are just super crappy .

As for your meds , most of the time when a job is lost you have insurance through the end of the current month . So I would think you should be fine . I'm not sure if everyone's insurance is like that but that's what I have experienced at all of my jobs .

Best at of luck to you . I hope to see you back soon

  • I do not know if it applies to you, i just assumed that you are on H1 visa and i wanted to share. when you loose your job on H1 visa, you could switch to tourist visa in order to extend your stay and then you do not loose your h1 and when you find a new job you can still transfer that h1 visa. Maybe by using cobra you can still stay in the country and continue your ivf process. One of my friend did that recently and i realized that many people did not know about this option. Both DH and I are on visa in the States so I can relate to that aspect.
I am very sorry for what happened, i hope you find a way to get back to baby making process very soon.
  • Lurking...

  • Hi, poor thing oxinfree! I'm so sorry you have to survive such painful things..
I'm sorry for your DH lost his job and that you'll have to move to another place.. It's really hard in such a time.
You've written about the medicals ordered. Are they for the specific procedure?
We've fortunately applied for DE ivf in biotexcom where all the meds needed for the subsequent stimulation protocol are included into the package. So probably this is also a good way for saving money, if only the cases do not differ.
We've chosen the clinic for its guarantee, honestly saying. As there have always been problems on work field for both of us. We booked 5 att program. It says that in case of 5 negatives they'll refund 100% money paid for the procedures. So anyway this is a good idea to try treatment you're to do and have the opportunity of saving money whenever the problem with job occurs or not.
I wish you all the best. May your troubles vanish soon x
  • so sorry@oxinfree....another major stress in an already stressful time...this is truly what makes us warriors! I am originally from Canada and my family (knowing our struggles) told me a few months ago about changes in Ontario's IVF coverage (they are now covering IVF treatments)....if you have to go back to Canada- maybe look in Ontario to be able to continue IVF at low/no cost?

I just had my retrieval Thursday. I thought the stim meds were pretty easy, 150 menopur and 150 follistim for 11 days, three low does trigger shots, pregnoyl and something else. I am apparently a super producer, 26 eggs retrieved, 23 were mature, 20 fertilized! Praying that quantity did not affect quality. Because I produced so many the recovery has been a little harder than it is for most. The other 2 girls who were having a retrieval the same day as me seemed to bounce out of their beds, I went in before 1 of them but left about an hour after she did. Feeling better today, but very sore. We are doing a frozen transfer in April - hopefully the 7th. I can't wait!!!!

  • @vssbrm - woah!! that is indeed a lot of eggs. woah! I only got 7 my first round (only 4 fertilized) and none of them worked, so don't stress about the quantity/quality too much. We're all so different. I'm very excited for you, and definitely think it's good you're doing a frozen so your body can recuperate a bit...

I'll be shortly behind you on the transfer, likely transferring around the 10th or so depending on how I stimm etc... you know how it goes ;)

Yay! That would be so awesome to be transfer/2ww buddies!!!

  • Yay ! I'm so happy for you . You are right .. There is no right time . My husband has been on the chopping block to be laid off multiple times this past year and at first I felt guilty moving forward with our plans due to our financial uncertainty . But we have found ways to make it work and we are just having to sacrifice in other areas to prepare for the possibility of being down to one income with a lot of student loan debt hanging over us .

I'm so so excited for you !!! I wish you the best of luck and hope everything goes smoothly ! Hugs !!

  • @AandDM2014 - that's honestly one of my biggest worries too. That finally after all these years we'll get a bfp only to be devastated by a mc... Once you're through the first trimester I'm sure that worry will ease at least slightly. Big hugs to you. Try your best to enjoy it, though I know WHEN (hopefully ;) ) I'm blessed to be in your shoes I will be feeling the same exact way. Keep in touch xx
