Pretty Pusher! I LOVED mine!

This, Ladies, is a Pretty Pusher Labor and Delivery gown. I had one for my last birth, and I LOVED IT! It was a gift from my doula, and at first I thought it was ridiculous, but once I tried it on I fell in  love. For my first 2 births I was so insanely hot I thought I was was going to die. The air conditioning was up so high in my rooms that the nurses put a coat rack outside the door so they could put coats on before they came in! Not kidding! With my third baby I wore a Pretty Pusher, I wasn't the slightest bit hot, I was VERY comfortable, I felt pretty, and I didn't have to wear a sports bra or anything to keep the girls up and in place (I'm very large busted), there's a slit in the front that opens up and ties closed so they can attach fetal monitors without having to yard up your gown. I'm not selling these, you can find them on Amazon, I just got mine (I ordered the one in the picture) in the mail today. They come in lots of different colors and designs. Ask for one as a shower gift or buy it yourself, you will love it! I just wanted to share and hopefully add a little sass and class to your labor and delivery experience! (Because hospital gowns are friggin' ugly and uncomfortable and itchy!)

  • I'd hate to get it all gross though!

They're either disposable or you can wash it and save it. Mine didn't get gross at all. They're made of super soft cotton, almost like a high quality t-shirt material.
  • I've been debating getting one. Part of me thinks they look so awesome, and I just want to be comfortable. The other part thinks it probably isn't necessary and I can be comfortable in other (less expensive) things. Thanks for the review! Definitely something I will consider!!
  • I was against bringing my own gown to the hospital but my doula recommended it. She says it helps the staff to see you as an individual (makes you stand out) instead of just one of many in the plain gown. I don't know how much of that is true but I am considering purchasing one now so thanks for the suggestion.
  • I'm all about getting the hospital gown nasty, then getting into my own clothes ASAP. With DS2 he was born at 10:20, we did an hour or so of skin to skin, nursing and such then he was sound asleep. The nurses took out my catheter, helped me to the bathroom and let me shower. Since I didn't get sweaty I just pinned up my hair and rinsed all the nasty stuff off and put on my own clothes. It was fantastic! I may look into one of these for wearing after delivery though!

With my first I had zero energy after delivery (4 hours of pushing) and wore the hospital gown the first day. And had no desire to get dressed, except we were going to have visitors at the hospital.

  • I'm happy to give birth in a hossy gown again, mine was disgusting afterward. I'd rather put my $ towards really comfy nursing bras. If anyone has any kick a$$ nursing bras they can recommend I'm all ears!

  • I will admit I'm a little jealous of anyone who felt even a teeny bit good about what they were wearing or how they looked during delivery. My immediate inclination is to think of this as a waste of money (if I'd had one last time I would have just sweated, puked and then bled out in it), but on the other hand, I also super hated the hospital gown during the parts of labor when I was coherent enough to be aware of anything. If I'd known I was going to be in labor for 25 hours, I might have thought about something like this.

  • Agree with PP- I'll leave all the nastiness of labor&delivery for the hospital gown. I am however going to get some nursing nightgowns and robes for the the postpartum unit.

I originally thought "waste of money" too, but it was amazing enough that I'm willing to buy myself one this time around. I think part of what I loved so much was that I didn't feel like a big blob walking the halls in an ugly green, itchy gown. I felt human, a little bit sassy, and the compliments I was getting from nurses and other mamas did a lot for my confidence.
  • I think it's cute but would hate spending that much money on something that could possibly get ruined. For my first I wore a hospital gown, for the second I had a t-shirt on and didn't have a chance to change(it got covered in blood from delivery so we threw it out). Last birth was at home and I just bought a cheap sleeveless nighttime gown from Walmart. As soon as DS was born I threw it out.

Hahahaha. There are women who care how they look during that?! I mean, kudos to those ladies, but I was not one of them. After a 13-hour induction and 46 mins of pushing (which I know is nothing compared to some mamas), I couldn't have cared less.

I'd always rather look good if I have the option. Just my personal preference.

  • Is it weird that I actually like & don't mind wearing a hospital gown? The next day I did switch to my own sweatpants & shirts, but I could have stayed in the gown for the whole stay.

I agree! My lady bits were so swollen that I didn't want pants of any type, not to mention all the blood and yuck that gushes out whenever you stand up. Plus, they were cooler (temp wise) than sweats and with all the hormonal changes, it was nice to get a clean, non-sweaty one!
  • I actually just went to a department store and bought night gowns. I made sure they had buttons down the front for BF and spent $40 on 3 or 4 of them. Sexy, no. Looked like a mumu, maybe. Comfy, hell yes!
