November 2016 Moms

Woozy Woo

I'm sat at my desk in work, feeling little Green, trying to compose myself. My ovaries are like two crabs pinching at each other and im trying not to vom.

Tell me girls, what are your sickness cures so far? Let's share so we can get through these first few weeks together

Re: Woozy Woo

  • Ginger mints from trader joes saved me last time. Ginger ale worked sometimes. Usually eating would help In general. This time I'm trying a seaband too. Stay away from acidic foods/ drinks (I had to give up coffee, OJ, pineapple, things like that because immediately after I would feel awful).

  • When I feel nasty in the morning grapefruit juice actually works well for me. Just a little bit drinking it slowly!
  • A few sips of diet soda is my morning routine. I wake up with the worst woozy nausea (similar to terrible motion sickness). Also sucking on preggy pops or mints helps a little.

  • I love the Carr's ginger lemon cookies. I have to be very careful with coffee or sweet drinks. I keep a gallon ziplock bags in my purse because I have had a few close calls with throwing up. Sometimes I feel it coming on, and sometimes it hits me out of nowhere. It's terrible, I was never sick with my first pregnancies! Good luck mamas!

  • It just started over the weekend for me, and I haven't found much that helps besides snacking on salty things often. I need to get some preggypops, and have been smelling some essential oils but I can't tell if they help or not. Luckily I haven't puked - last pregnancy I did that pretty often, and I'm really hoping this pregnancy is easier in that department!

Thankfully I haven't been too nauseous, but the heartburn sucks. My acupuncturist suggested applying pressure to your wrist for nausea. Take your thumb and place it right where your hand and wrist meet (on the under side), then go back a thumb's width and apply some pressure in the middle. Haven't had to try it yet, but hopefully it can help some of you!

Edited because it's Monday morning and English isn't working yet...

  • Last pregnancy I lived on seltzer water and Preggie Pops (they're little lozenges you can get at Babies R Us).  I also nibbled on saltines (kept them in my desk, on my nightstand, in every drawer at home).  So far this pregnancy, not much nausea so I'm not sure what will work this time around!
  • Ginger ale, rice crackers and jolly ranchers have been my go to so far. I have queasy beads (work like seabands) from my last pregnancy, so I dug those out this weekend. I'm not finding the nausea to be that bad, but if I start to feel sick I get sick.
  • Last time around, sour patch kids and lemons in my water helped. Also keeping snacks handy at all times because hunger and nausea tended to go together. I'm noticing that happening this time too so I'm trying to constantly eat a little bit throughout the day.

I wore sea bands from week 6 to week 15 last time around, I don't know how much they actually worked but they definitely didn't hurt.  I also sucked on sour candies.  Nothing seemed to make it go away but at least those things made it a little less.
