Nap time- let him cry he passes out again

Please say others do this.... My baby is a good Napper (he may cry and resist for 3 mins and pass out) never at bed tho. He sometimes will wake up from a nap after 30 mins and then he can be cranky so lately when he wakes up from a nap I don't go in right away and let him cry for maybe 3-5 mins and then he passes out. Is this okay? Or should I go get him? I only do this for his first nap of the day because it's the longest and if I do let him cry and he passes out he will go back for another 30-40 mins more sometimes more. Am I being a mean mom lol? I hate to hear him cry but if he's gonna pass out again I think let him. Baby can't have too much sleep. He goes to bed around 6:30-7 sleeps till 5 up for a feed back down till 7:30.

  • You're not mean. You are teaching him how to self sooth and as long as you know his cries you will know when he really needs you

  • Mine will cry out briefly, 10 seconds, with eyes still closed and go back to sleep. I just peek in to see. If her eyes open and she's actually crying, I go in and soothe her, or nurse a bit, and she often goes back to sleep if I catch it before she gets riled up. You know your baby best. If your method suits her temperament, then I wouldn't change something that's working. Personally, I go to baby if she actually cries. If she's fussing and rolling around I leave her to see if she settles.

  • I do the same. One of my twins sleeps with out my help. I lay him in his crib & he fusses until he's comfortable & falls asleep. He'll wake up, cry & then falls back asleep once he finds a comfortable position. If i walk in and dont let him fall asleep in his own he wakes up & it ruins his afternoon nap..So no you are not a mean mom. Not @ all.
  • I wait now as well because daycare told me about this crying out but still kinda asleep during transitioning of cycles
  • I do the same, if he doesn't stop I go get him and rock him but I let it go for a few minutes to see if he falls back to sleep.
