I tried searching to see if there was already a post on this and didn't see any, if I miss it I'm sorry to duplicate.
DH, my mom, and I did the hospital tour this past Saturday and it was quite impressive - way better than expected. They encouraged Moms to bring in their own labor gown(s) if they want, but of course they have an endless supply of them on hand. I'd heard and seen labor gowns on Etsy, Pinterest, etc, but hadn't given much thought to purchasing one or two until it was brought up in the tour...that and my mother offered to purchase a few for me if I wanted.
Are any of you planning to do this or have done this with previous births? If so where did you purchase them? Did you feel more comfortable in something of your own vs theirs?
Re: labor gown/robe
I can see why people like to wear their own thing to preserve some autonomy or personal control over the situation. If that is not you, it might just be a waste of money. Especially if you throw things away if they get a drop of blood on them.
This reminded me of being in triage a few weeks ago. I had the hospital gown on, and a doctor I knew from last time saw me. I showed her some pictures of the twins, and she said how nice we looked. All I could think was, "I don't wear a hospital gown in the real world, and I definitely wear undies and a bra." (well not always the bra). haha
eta: I'd rather shop for baby clothes!

Insaw some on etsy that were cute but ultimately went with Amazon. It's your decision. Good luck!

Am currently scouting out Etsy and saw this exact one and marked it as a fav to go back to

It was awesome because post-delivery if I got a stain on it (and you will) I just threw it in the bin and put on a clean one.
I didn't put on my own clothes (used the mesh underwear which is great and was bra-less) until we left.
mine for the first few weeks at home.

I have two different kinds but I prefer the Lotus style. I only have one of the Lotus and found it really comfy and easy to nurse in, but could still lounge around in without feeling half naked.

This is not me... Just my robe on someone else haha.
Been married since 2009.
Unicornuate Uterus (yes I menstruate glitter)
Several MCs
DD born 2013 (our miracle "you can't have babies" baby!)
Birth is extremely messy so I wouldn't want to actually pay for something just to see it ruined. I bought this for afterward though. I plan on getting the hat or gown monogrammed with lo's name. I have a dark gray thin robe that matches perfectly so at least I'll look good for visitors!
Also, hella cute.
The nurse who teaches our prenatal class strongly recommended that we bring our own clothes (labor robe, pre-labor hangout gear, etc) to the hospital with us so we felt cozy and relaxed and at home. And then she said we'd probably end up throwing them away afterwards. So I am not getting a special labor gown/robe. And it's equal parts because I'm cheap and because I'm a contrarian who seriously dislikes this particular nurse...
As for bringing your own gown to labor in? I wouldn't. You would most likely throw it away when you were done.
