Had D&C now seem to be having problems getting pregnant

Hi everyone.  I was wondering if anyone had problems getting pregnant after a D&C, or having their cycles very messed up for months after D&C.  Long story but I had gotten pregnant on the first try with both pregnancies.  The second baby lost its heart beat around 7-9 weeks, when we went in for my 9 weeks check up baby no longer had a heart beat, so we did a D&C the next day.  Now it took 10 weeks for me to start my period again, it took 9 weeks to get the hCG to go to 0 again. Now we have tried a couple times and nothing has happened, even if I do ovulation test to make sure I am actually ovulating.  My cycle has not been normal one time since the D&C and I always had a normal on time cycle.  Now I am not saying I will never get pregnant again or really worried yet but I was just curious if anyone else experienced any issues like this or a long delay for everything after a D&C.  I won't go back to the doctors unless we have tried for 6 months and nothing happened per her suggestion but I was just curious.

Thank you!

I am sorry for your loss. It seems the only rule after m/c is there are no rules for your cycle. Most of us have experienced large variances in our cycles after loss. I have never been a charter and feel like I know less about the trouble TTC parts because, like you we have not had problems conceiving in the past. Try posing your question to the TTCAL board, you may get more feedback there.

    Good luck!

I'm so sorry for your loss. As pp have said, cycles are rarely normal after. I see no reason to worry right now. Best of luck!

It's horrible. I'm so sorry. Were you advised to wait a few cycles before trying again?

9 weeks is a long time! Mine took almost 6 weeks and I thought that was a long time. I got my period when my level wasn't quite zero...but almost. I've been tracking ovulation too. If you are concerned about your cycle, there is no harm in calling your ob nurse line to check in.

@nicole1802 You may get more responses on the TTC After Loss Board. :)

I got pregnant on my first try (and once when not trying), so I was very upset when I didn't get pregnant my first month after MC. I'm now in my TWW on my 2nd and trying to remind myself that the average couple that times sex perfectly still has only a 20-25% chance of conceiving every month.

That being said, there could be other reason you aren't conceiving, but most docs make you wait 6 months until they do a followup. If you feel like somethings legitimately wring, don't hesitate to contact your Dr. For example, I was having horrible headaches and insomnia during the 1st half of my cycle, so I'm seeing an RE in Monday about my hormone imbalance.

    Good luck!!

Are you temping? If you want the best chance each month, temping and checking CM and CP in addition to OPKs will help you make sure you are TTC at the right time each cycle. If you haven't already, read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. You only have a 20% chance of conceiving each cycle - you might have gotten lucky the first two times. Unfortunately it is perfectly normal not to get pregnant right away. We got pregnant within three months of trying the first time, but it took 15 months to conceive the second time. Trying a couple times with no luck doesn't mean you have a problem.
