Is everyone's lo sleeping through the night but mine???

He still BF at 12, 3 and 5. Bedtime at 7, wake up at 6.

Re: Is everyone's lo sleeping through the night but mine???

  • We literally STTN for the very first time last night and DS is 27 weeks. I EP and he used to eat once or twice from 8pm ish to 6 or 7 am when up for the day. Usually 4-6 oz during those MOTN feedings. And I am willing to bet last night was a fluke, lol. You are not alone mama. It will happen, promise!

  • No! I know it often feels like that but you aren't alone. My DS is still up multiple times a night. I usually only feed twice, occassionally three times. But he wakes in between as well.
  • Sounds like our schedule exactly! Unfortunately... Lol
  • Nope and nope. Mine is up anytime to eat anywhere from one to three times lol. And is FF.

No. We're up constantly. She can't transition from cycle to cycle.
  • Nope! We are up at least 1-2 times a night sometimes more! I have a friend that told me her baby has slept through the night since 8 weeks.... Ummm so jealous!
  • My 6 month old is in bed 8-8 but is up at 11, 2 and 5/6ish.... Sometimes more. I'm really glad I'm not the only one haha :)
  • You're not alone. My LO is learning to transition through sleep cycles on his own :( sucks.
  • We are up to eat twice most nights...

Not alone. She slept through the night or at least 5-7 hrs straight for one month. 3-4 then 4 months hit and it all went to crap. What a glorious month. Lately she's been asleep by 8:30/9. Then up at 12/1 and then again like 4/5 and then she is in bed nursing while I sleep lol. And sometimes she does that all morning.
My husband asked me today if it's normal for a baby to be in bed like that. Um I say it is otherwise I'd get no sleep. I'm over the sitting up and nodding off thing. She gets to suckle and I get to sleep. Works for me.

  • Nope DS turns 7 months next week, still up twice most nights.
  • Ha!
she did...until about a month ago. And now we are up at least twice at night. And sometimes it's more frequently and we just end up in the chair. All. Night. Long.
  • Nope, we're on pretty much the same schedule. Up every 2.5 to 3 hours every night.
  • Mine does NOT sleep through the night
  • Nope we are up at least 2-3 times a night for a feeding, and that's a good night,  if I co sleep.   If he's in the crib,  he's up about every 1.5 hours.   My compromise is crib from 8 to midnight,  with about 3 wakeups.  Then feed and cosleep with another 2 wakeups.   This way he's at least getting used to the crib,  but we're still getting sleep.

Hang in there mama!   Some kids just need more time to figure it out.  I have noticed my lo seems to be getting better at going to sleep/sleeping harder without any type of "training" really.   I just think he's getting older and more developmentally ready for it. All babies learn it in their own time.
  • He was until 5.5 months. Since 3 weeks ago he's up every hour or two. And still doesn't nap during the day. Ugh.

  • Bed at 7. Up an hour later to cry, up another hour later to eat and then probably up every 2-3 hours after to eat boob. Then up and at em, bright eyed and active at 5:30am! I haven't slept well in five and a half months. But I sure do love cuddling him back to sleep.
  • Nope. She was almost sleeping through the night around Christmas time, but now she wakes for a change & feed 2-3 times per night. I think she eats more at night now because her brother distracts her while she's eating during the day. She's always unlatching to see what he's doing lol!!  :#
  • I need some serious help. He's down at 7.... Wakes up literally every hour all night. I don't know what to do
  • Mine is up every 2 hours lately... I'm seriously ready to collapse.
  • Oh ladies I'm glad to know I am not alone but wish all of our babies were blissfully sleeping for longer chunks of time! I keep wanting to start serious sleep training (and have begun reading up on several methods, breaking sleep associations and have had a solid bedtime routine) but theres ALWAYS something. Visitors over, cold, teething, etc. and I keep thinking if he is really eating MOTN (which he is, full 10 minute feeds) then he must need it. Someday they will sleep!
  • I started sleep training and last night was night 5 and he slept through the night! It is possible. I highly recommend gentle but consistent sleep training
  • Mine is up every three hours but nurses and goes right back to sleep
  • My dude wakes up every 45 minutes to 3 hours. Varies every night and it's not always to eat (although I know my partner feeds him back to sleep every time when he's on duty, drives me crazy).
  • Mine WAS sttn, but when he was able to roll over he stopped. First he became uncomfortable in his rock n play and tried to flip over in it, so no more RnP. Since then it's been a hodgepodge of cosleeping and crib sleeping. Hubby works 12 hours a day five days a week, and I am alone with the kids in the mornings and late afternoons while he is gone. We are both running on empty and so we just try to squeeze as much sleep in as we can, and sometimes that means baby sleeps with us!!  He has been getting up 3-4 times a night, usually only wants to nurse one of those times. Last night the blessed child slept from 10-3:30 and then from 4:30-5:30 in his crib!  We are making progress, but definitely not sttn yet.

    What method?
  • Haaa! I wish! No. He slept through the night for about 3 weeks before hitting 4 month sleep regression. That was in early December and we've never made it back to sleeping through the night. Bed at 7am and usually wakes up every 3 hours on a good night.

  • Ohhhhhh I'm relieved. Definitely NOT sleeping through the night.

We we had a GLORIOUS week. Self settling (yes, self settling!) for all naps, and sleeping a 6 hour stretch at night, so 1-2 wakes.

Now ow were back to needing assistance to get to sleep for all naps and up every 2 hours at night.

    So rude!
  • Not at all... most nights, he wakes up 1-2 times... now with these teeth and a growth spurt, he had me up every 2 hours last night. I'm hoping we'll be back to normal tonight, otherwise work is going to stink tomorrow...

I Co sleept with DS in my bed till last week. He has reflux and I was terrified he'd choke when he was younger and not as mobile. He was sleeping a few hours at a time then everything changed and he was waking every sleep cycle (45 min)

So i started putting him in the crib with his lovey after rocking and nursing him to sleep. First few nights i let him fuss 5 min but intervened if things escalated

Next few nights 10 min, he started putting himself to sleep with minimal grumbling and by night 3 was sleeping 2-3 hour stretches

Last night was night 6 and he slept 8 hours then 3 hours. So in only 6 nights he went from sleeping hourly stretches to through the night. He was a happy baby before but now hes very haopy.

We also sleep trained our LO a while ago and it's the best thing we ever did.  He's happier now that he's well rested, I'm happier, the whole family is happier.  We have more energy to play and have fun during the day too.  He even giggles and smiles when we put him down in the crib before closing his eyes and drifting to sleep with zero fussing.  He used to wake every 1-3 hours and wouldn't nap unless I was baby wearing.  Now he naps 3 times a day and sleeps 630pm-730am with no wake ups. It's been great!
  • Our schedule was very similar up until a week ago when I decided to cut him off of night feedings. He is 25 weeks and I'm just done being up and down all night. He was extremely upset about it and neither of us got sleep for the first two nights, but by night three he was sleeping through the night 8pm to 7am. We are both much more well rested!

  • Has anyone had success with taper off of night feelings versus cold turkey? I just started reducing the amount of time he's feeding last night. I cut him off at 6 minutes each time and was really expecting cries but just a few grumbles!!! Tomorrow will be 4 minutes, then 2, then nada. Fingers crossed...

I weaned my first and have started with my second.  You can do it BF or bottle feeding, BF is just lowering the time, bottle feeding is dropping ounces.  If LO struggles to fall back asleep or wakes hungry shortly after I take that as a sign that he still needed those calories.  I think with DS1 I only had to bump back up once for about a week.  Other than that we managed to drop down to one MOTN feed easily.  He dropped that one naturally a month or two later.  I usually stuck with an amount for 3 days or so before dropping again.

I agree with your previous post as well.  I feel like we make progress but it always gets thrown off.  Lately we have been basically moving from one stumbling block to another.  Rolling, crawling and now teeth have made night time difficult.  DS goes to sleep for naps and bed by himself easily but he still wakes every few hours because of these things.  He popped a tooth, we had a few awesome nights then we started crawling and now another tooth.  I'm tired lol.
