Today ive hit 32 weeks and my baby is still breached. Kinda worried. Can I do something to flip him? Will I have to have a c-section? Panicking please help!
Don't panic. He has plenty of time to flip still. My baby changes positions all the time. Since I've been in the hospital, in an 8 hour span she has been transverse, breech and head down. Don't freak out yet!!
I'm 31 weeks and my baby loves twisting and turning. Like PP have said, no need to freak. Try doing some calf cows (that usually moves my LO from transverse, which is his favorite position) and I read that putting an ice pack near your breasts (top part of your bump) can sometimes move them down. But again, don't worry. Your baby still has LOTS of time to decide to get into position.
I might be wrong, but I believe most babies don't flip head down and stay head down (for the most part) until 36 weeks and later, my ob said we won't talk csection or manual version unless baby is still not head down at 38 weeks.
My birthing center doesn't worry about positioning until about 36 weeks. And as others have said if baby moves to that position they likely won't stay that way until then. You still have time. Try not to worry too much.
My baby was always head down and then decided breech was a better position this week.
Weird - the rest of my post disappeared after I posted it.
Basically my doctor said babies move around a LOT and usually don't start settling into their final position until 34 weeks. Even if the baby is still breech at that point, they can try to move the baby manually or even deliver breech depending on whether your pregnancy and the baby's position meets the criteria (mine does not).
DS#1 continued to change positions from week 32 till he was born. My doctor talked to us about having a version or scheduling a csection but we choose to wait and see. I went to my appointment the day before my scheduled induction (41 weeks) and he was head down. We went to the hospital in the morning and he was breech, I then had an er csection due to my water already breaking. My advice is to go with the flow. There's nothing you can do to guarantee LO will be head down and stay head down. Good Luck
I wouldn't worry! I forget where I saw this so I'm not sure how credible it is, but I did read somewhere that only 5% of babies are head down and in the proper position at 32 weeks!
Don't stress yet. First, for many doctors, a breech position = a csection, but not all. Second, your baby has time to flip.
With DS1, I thought I was in the clear because he was head down consistently, then towards the end of week 38, he flipped breech.
It's harder, though not impossble, for a baby to dramatically change positions once lightening has occurred (which usually happens between 36w and birth). There are a few things that you can to to encourage head down, but ultimately, baby will settle how he/she prefers or fits best. You can make sure that your hips are aligned by visiting a Webster certified chiropractor, you can create space in the uterus by sitting up straight, or going on all fours, you can use heat, light, and sound as encouragement. Check out spinningbabies.com to read up more on positioning.
Also, though I did have a csection because DS was breech, and it wasn't the birth I had imagined, we both came out alive, so modern medicine is still a blessing in my book.
I get the worry. I am too, even though I know baby has plenty of time! I read somewhere that doctors expect baby to be head down by 35 weeks, but that doesn't mean baby won't flip after that point! DD1 was always head down and I never had to fret. This DD2 is slightly transverse/breech. I'll likely start some of the spinning babies moves after the 35w mark.
I wanted to add- they are tough to find, but there are OBs who are skilled at flipping breech babies (and you often don't need to be a regular patient of their's, you can go in just to flip the baby). There are also some OBs and hospitals that will deliver breech and are very skilled at it- very rare and hard to find, but they do exist.

It's kind of sad that the skill of delivering breech is becoming lost. Of course it's easiest and safest if your baby is facing forward and head down, but there are lots of versions of "normal" birth.
My doctor wants me to put headphones at the bottom of my belly and play music for several hours of the day. Babies tend to migrate towards the noise. I did it with DD1. She's very musically inclined. I'd like to think that's why.

As others have said don't freak out! Also my birth class (Bradleybirth) recommends finding a respected chiropractor that specializes in maternity- specifically the Webster technique which can safely help move baby into position if needed... It's still very early and your LO will probably turn head down on its own, but it may make you feel better to have abother plan.
In my course they mentioned a website called spinning babies. Also: Try nit to worry too much yet! Plenty of time for baby to turn:-) according to my mum I turned pretty much the night before my due date:-) Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I heard about this. I'm not so musically inclined (love music, just cannot play any instruments or anything to save my life), but DH on the other hand is VERY musically inclined (plays guitar, piano, trumpet, records his own music/songs on the computer and stuff) so he really wants to try this. I told him I'll do it if he writes the baby a song to try it with.
According to the teacher of my birthing class, when you lean back, you encourage the baby to go breech, but when you lean forward, it encourages the baby to go head down.
At this point, just moving around is important because when we move, the baby moves too. The more the baby moves now (within reason), the easier of a time the baby will have moving into place during labor.

Don't want to fear monger - but my best friend had a breech baby in October, and had a lot of complications and an extremely traumatic birth experience for her and baby. The bigger issue in her case was that the doc didn't even check his position before she started pushing, so they weren't even prepared for the delivery he had. I would hope that if they know the baby is breech (and how breech they are - this case he came out butt first) they are better prepared and things might go smoother.
Babies can turn at anytime. DD2 turned from transverse to head down at 39 weeks. I've also had a friend delivery twins via c section who said the Doctor saw one baby flip in her bag of waters while they were getting the other out.. And they over 7 lbs each
My doctor checked today (32 1/2 weeks) and says LO is breech. She's not too concerned until 36 weeks. At that point, we'll have a conversation about options/next steps if needed.
LO is apparently way far into my back area rather than out forward in normal bump form, so I'm hoping he'll turn on his own because it might be a little tough to physically turn him.
My friend was breech at 35 wks and her doctor suggested getting in a pool. It takes off all the gravity from the baby even if you don't have a lot of fluid and it's the best way to get the baby to move around. I am 31 wks right now and breech. Planning to do a natural birth in a birth center. I started to worry but I'm just going to relax until I get closer to 36 weeks. Luckily for me, my current OB is the only doctor in my area who is skilled at delivering breech babies and is willing to do it.
I highly recommend the video Daily Essentials by Spinning Babies. In the video, the founder of Spinning Babies (a very knowledgeable, highly thought of midwife) explains how modern lifestyle practices encourages breech and posterior positions. She teaches how to tweak our daily habits to encourage baby into a head down position, and at the end of the video Blooma yoga instructor Sarah Longacre leads you through an easy yoga flow that's awesome for fetal positioning. It's a short video, easy to understand, and easy to implement. Check it out, gals!
As PP's have stated, 32 weeks is still a bit early to expect baby to be in the correct position and to stay that way. They still have plenty of time and space to have a dance/gymnastics/mixed martial arts party. I asked my OB the other day at my appt when was baby supposed to be locked and loaded. She said they usually start looking for it around 34 wks, but they can still move then so 36 weeks is the magic number for their office. Yesterday mine was chilling transverse.
I have half of a uterus and my doctor is still saying he won't make a decision on VBAC for me until 36 weeks (I'm 32) bc DD has until then to turn. You still have plenty of time. Also, coming from someone who had a c/S, it's not that bad. Not ideal but nothing to be scared of.
