Sippy Cups

With DD, we gave her a sippy around 6 months and she eventually learned how to drink from it. But she would only drink water from it, never milk. When are you all planning on giving a sippy cup to LO?

Re: Sippy Cups

  • I started mine on a sippy cup last week at 17 weeks. She started to refuse bottles but loves to chew on the sippy cup. Then she figured milk would come out if she sucked on it and we are up to 2 oz on it. Yay. We have a playtex 4 mo+ sippy cup. Doctor also recommended it and solids. She said to skip the bottles of they don't want them.

That's why I was hoping to do! I would love to start giving him formula from the sippy to make getting rid of the bottle easier.
  • Does he drink formula now in bottles?
  • Does he drink formula now in bottles?
    Yes he does.
  • My oldest was completely off the bottle by 6 months and took formula in a sippy cup from then on. My youngest is almost 5 months and still won't take a bottle. His ped recommended starting with small amounts of water or diluted juice in a sippy at 6 months and skipping the bottle altogether.
  • Cool, I want to wean to formula and solids. She on the other does not lol. She is starting to teeth too and it's making eating time harder.
  • My girl never wanted a bottle so I started a sippy cup at 4 months (the no-spill trainer cups). She seems to enjoy the Playtex one, but won't drink too much out of it yet (1-1.5oz). I think the handles that she can hold herself are appealing to her
