Why is my daughter manipulative?

My DH used to say DD1 was manipulating us but I thought it was silly.  DD3 now seems to be doing it too and I see it! She throws fits unless we put her in our bed sometimes, kicks until we stand up and when she gets her way she laughs.  Like she's so proud that she "won".  It's cute and funny and scary at the same time!

  • Ditto^^^ While it certainly feels like my LO is manipulating me when he juts out his lower lip to get me to hold him (he is SO good at it!! Lol), he is just using the communication skills he has to have his needs met. I respond when he cries because he doesn't have words. As he gains further communication skills I'll stop responding as quickly to the cries to encourage him to use his new sounds and (eventually) words to get what he wants.
  • It's cute and funny right now.  I wonder if she will actually get those skills as she nears 1 year.  My 7 year old is a master negotiator and was definitely playing us as a baby!
