Hair growth

So I was totally expecting my body hair to grow out of control while I'm pregnant...and it's gone completely the other way. I've noticed my leg hair is barely growing back after a wax. Normally my legs are hairy again after 2 weeks...but this is insane, I have so little at 4 weeks! Has this happened to anyone else? It's pretty awesome...I hope it stays like that!!!

Re: Hair growth

  • Leg hair is still growing for me but if I had to guess I would say it was actually growing slower, but before I would have to shave at least once a week if not more. Now hair on my head? It's out of control. I need a hair cut badly.

  • My hair pretty much stops growing when I'm pregnant too. I've had 2 haircuts since this fall, it's kind of awesome. Shame it's cold and I don't get to flaunt my smooth legs!

This happens to me too, to a certain extent. My leg hair growth slows way down, but everything else speeds up. It went back to normal for me within a few months post patrum last time.

Eta: I'm a 5 o'clock leg shadow kind of girl...so slowing way down means shaving every other day.
  • I think my leg hair has slowed down but my stomach hair is outta control. I'm shaving my stomach every few days.
  • I'm so jealous! I have thick hair anyway (we're talking smooth in the morning and prickly by afternoon) and since getting pregnant there are some hairs that are so thick I have to pluck them if I want a smooth finish.

I was a 5 o'clock shadow kinda girl too, that's why I started waxing in the first place. But my hair would grow so quickly it would come back in after 10 days. This is a much much welcomed relief currently. I won't need to wax again before baby comes at this rate. Then once she's here I'm going to start doing home IPL and no more hair!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness that sucks :( why not just leave it or wax it? No ones seeing it anyway...
I've definitely noticed my tummy hair has grown longer than usual. I'm trying not to touch it though cos I've heard the extra will fall out after pregnancy. Body hair is like the bane of my existence sometimes. Why can't we all just be nice and smooth in all the right places?
  • Speaking of hair growth, what about hair loss? My stylist told me that many of his female clients who have had kids begin losing hair on their head around 9 months postpartum. He told me to get ready for it, that it's not permanent, but he sees it happen with many of his clients.

  • ^ I guess I noticed more hair coming out in the shower, but nothing to be freaked out over.

Also-- it's winter!!! I shave my legs like once a month.
  • pretty much all of my body hair growth has all slowed down and my hair (on my head) is growing so fast!! If only it would stay this way!!

You lose all the hair you didn't lose during pregnancy. It can start to happen anytime after delivery!!

It happened around 4 months for me last time. I cut my hair, then a bunch fell out and I had to have it cut again because it looked so weird. I'm cutting it before delivery so I can wait it out. It was mostly in the shower, but it was way more than I was expecting.

I had some definite shedding around 3mo post partum and cut my hair short then. It only was in hyper-shedding mode for about a month, then went back to normal.
  • Hair growth on my legs has slowed down. My long locks are getting ridiculous and I have 2" long baby hairs all over my head(I actually at first bought a new blow dryer as I just assumed I was frying it and they were fly always). So my hair stylist told me that I'd likely shed a lot post baby. Sadly the hair "down there" has started re-growing which is undoing some very expensive laser hair removal. Guess I'll be cashing in on their life time guarantee sometime to correct it. On the bright side I can't currently easily see said offensive hair.
  • I've had serious hair growth, all over. On the downside, I have to shave more often now (not that I do, though...I'm lazy and large and will put the razor off as long as possible). On the plus side: as someone who has always had thin hair on my head, I'm really enjoying this. My hair has never looked this awesome, and I can't stop running my hands through it. It's so thick! I'm seriously gonna cry when that postpartum hair loss thing happens.
    Pregnancy Ticker

  • Absolutely, it is the best pregnancy symptom by far. My leg hair is super light and didn't grow fast to begin with. I can now go weeks without shaving. My armpit hair has slowed down, too. I can go like 4 days now.

I am with @mrstmoose on the stomach hair, though. It's growing long and darker, but not too bad. Just funny it's growing less in some places and more than other.

I shave my stomach anyways because I have such dark hair. So I have just continued it.
