Thin lining and TI

We were supposed to be doing IUI on Sundsy but at my U/S yesterday my doctor saw that my lining was thin (6). I was beyond disappointed because I have had two follicles on my left ovary (my right tube is blocked due to an ectopic). These were the first follicles on the left side since Nov.

In Nov we did TI and it did not work out well. Now my doctor told me yesterday that because of the thin lining she doesn't feel confident enough moving forward with IUI and wants us just to do TI with the trigger shot and following up with progesterone supp.  Now looking back at my paperwork from Nov, she wrote down different timings then compared to now for TI. Anyone have thoughts on thin lining at a 6 as well as our 'schedule'?  My paperwork from yesterday says:

Shot in am
TI that night
TI 36 after shot
TI again 48 hours later.

she also told me she wants to move past IUI to IVF because of my blocked tube and now my thin lining (even though this has never been a problem before)!  I was shocked to hear that.

Hi there ! I'm so sorry you got bad news ! It sucks to be all ready for something and have the plan change . My question is - has she mentioned giving you anything to thicken your lining ? I had thin lining during a few of my IUI cycles and I was put on estrace . It seems like if she was monitoring things and your lining wasn't thickening something could be done .

  • @mskeenan, she didn't mention anything yesterday at my appointment.  I have never had this problem before, so I didn't ask about any meds to thicken it up.  When do you usually take estrace?  We are not ready to move onto IVF, especially since we have never even gotten to do IUI, so I will definitely bring it up with her.  Thanks!
  • Hi @jodes727 - as for the timing, personally I feel most comfortable having intercourse starting at least the night before the trigger, the night of, and continuing for 2 nights after. (Unless MFI is a problem for you and because of that you have been advised otherwise.)

Regarding the lining, I do TI and this cycle my lining was also 6 and it had the triple stripe pattern so I was under the impression that was fine. I was put on prometrium, though. Interested to know if you end up getting meds for that. I might have to ask at my next U/S. Good luck to you!
    Me: 33, PCOS with anovulation
    DH: 36, No known issues
    TTC since 11/2014
    1000mg Metformin daily

    Oct-Dec 2015: Letrozole 5mg, Ovidrel, TI = BFN x 2
    Feb-May 2016: Letrozole 5mg, Ovidrel, TI, Prometrium = BFN x 3
August 2016: Clomid 100mg no response, Letrozole 5mg, Ovidrel, TI, Prometrium = BFN

  • I'm trying to remember .. My memory may not be correct . But I wanna say I started estrace maybe a few days before my IUI was scheduled when they noticed my lining wasn't thick enough . I know that's not helpful right now as it would prob take a while for the meds to kick in and have an effect anyways . So , definitely something to ask about in the future if this time isn't the one . But I am hoping this time is it for you !! I've got all my fingers and toes crossed !!!
