Infertility

Hi! *waves*

Hi everyone, stumbled across this community earlier in the week, and I'm very grateful. My husband and I are beginning IVF and are scheduled for a March/April cycle. We are in the beginning stages where everything feels pretty confusing and overwhelming, I go back and forth from being excited and being scared to death and wondering if we are capable of the process!

My husband is 49 and works in sales, I am 32 and am an administrator at a large urban high school. Neither of us personally knows anyone who has gone down this road before, so I'm looking to make connections with people who commiserate with the challenges of this particular type of fertility treatment.

If you have any suggestions on resources -- blogs, vlog channels, online communities, etc -- please let me know! What is something you wish you had been told at the beginning of this process?

Looking forward to getting to know all of you better :)

  • Hi and *waves back*
Sorry that you have to join us, but you couldn't find a better place to be.
Women (and we have a few men) have been a great support to me.

Its a scary, emotional draining journey, but the end result will be amazing!
So anytime you feel overwhelmed, need to vent, or just feel like saying hi, this is the place!

What I wish I knew in advance? Listen to your body and your gut. Women have those for a reason! If you don't feel ready, you are not ready, and that is ok. If you are tired, you are tired, and that is ok.
This journey will go as fast or as slow as you two are comfortable with. So if it's going to fast, just say stop.
Ask..ask anything you want an answer to. I've noticed that sometimes the clinic might forget that this is all new to you, as for them it's a daily business.

Wishing you GL on your journey, see if there is a group of IVF March or April and join in. Having women going through the same around the same time as you has helped me so much.

  • Hi @LinZ528 - welcome! Great group of ladies here. I blog very openly about my experience so feel free to read that if you're interested... I've done one fresh IVF and one frozen so have experienced it before... will likely also be cycling later this month with transfer in April. (Hubby lost his job but looks like we were able to get cobra to extend coverage PHEW). Feel free to DM me anytime if you need someone to vent to or ask anything! :) Best of luck to you!!!
