Baby wearing gear? Advice

Sorry but I couldn't find any updates threads on this topic. I haven't found a baby carrier that I like. The wrap scares me, the sling I have LO sinks in like a sack of potatoes, and I would love something not just for newborn phase and possibly something I could use to nurse.

Advice? Suggestions? What brands are working for you? Thank you!

  • Looooove my lillebaby complete. My 9 ln baby already fits in it, and I could also still use it, if I wanted to, on my 19 month old with the change of a couple snaps.

  • I've been using the ktan and so far I like it! I kind of wish I had the lillebaby complete though!
  • I used my ergo with the infant insert yesterday and loved it.

  • I love my boba wrap. It's not as hard as it looks and is super comfy. I just watched a couple of video how toos to learn how.
Also love my ergo at about 6months
I do have a couple of friends who have the Boba carrier. They love it and bonus you don't need an infant insert.

  • Thought I'd add a couple photos of little man in the Boba from yesterday
  • I absolutely love my moby wrap and so does baby.
  • Ktan is easy, comfy for you and baby (until they get too heavy), and easy to nurse in. Had a moby with DS1 but Ktan is sooo much easier. I use it daily. I love my ergo once they get heavier & for long outings -- padded straps, pockets, doesn't stretch out but it's not as comfortable as the Ktan for lounging around the house. I've never tried to nurse in the ergo. I use my ring sling for quick trips into a store & I use it a lot more when they're big enough to sit up and side carry.
  • I have both the K'tan and moby and I'm really preferring the K'tan this time around.. It's so awesome and easy to use. That being said I don't plan on using it more than a couple months. I  have a Tula that will become my main carrier after the newborn stage. Love, love, love the Tula.

  • I have been wearing LO in a stretchy wrap every day. I have a ring sling as well but I look forward to wearing it more when she can hold up her had better.

  • I have a Bjorn sport - loved with DS1. Ergo baby - fantastic now that he is older. Boppy sling awaiting DS2 - and a Lenny Lamb ring sling ordered. Would love to hear others thoughts on the last 2 but would HIGHLY reccomend the first 2.
  • I love our Boba wrap too and for DS we got a Lillebaby it was amazing. H loved it so much we got another one so we wouldn't have to share so now once new baby gets big enough we will be using it with her too. If possible try finding a local babywearing group in your area. I found one and was able to try the different brands before we chose our Lille. Also sometimes local baby boutiques hold classes or info sessions on wearing. The one we shop at does it once a month so that may help you too :)
  • I also love the lillebaby. Tried it out yesterday with my 1 month old
  • Love the moby wrap took baby out for a walk the other day
  • Check out the chimparoo trek. It's a soft structured carrier and has a stretchy newborn pouch.
  • I used a Boba wrap with DD1. I got a Nesting Days carrier for this LO (which would be super easy to use if you're afraid of the wrap), but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. The wraps can be intimidating at first, but a few good YouTube videos and you'll be a pro in no time.

  • Thank you everyone for your feedback! Most helpful! I am going to look into your suggestions and hopefully start wearing my little snuggler soon.

Another vote for boba. Baby loves it and it is so much easier than lunging a car seat to do grocery shopping. I put the wrap on before leaving the house and then put baby in it before going into the store. I wasn't sure about the wrap either but I watched YouTube videos and it's so simple one you do it a couple of times. I scored mine on a local yard sale site for $15.
Praying this is our take home baby. STICK TURKEY Mommy will miss you everyday my beautiful angel. We love you Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers M/C on 1/05/11 at 11 weeks.
  • My sister has twins and she wears the ergo 360 and a tula at the same time. Ihave the ergo 360 and love it. We don't have the infant insert though. I roll up one of her blankets and put it underneath her bottom and it raises her to the level she should be and allows her legs to be in it properly. I found a you tube video on how to use it without the insert and it is working wonderfully for us.
    I am 27, DH is 26.

  • Love love love my Lille baby carrier. Use it for my newborn with no issue. Also have a Moby but it takes more time. Lille for out and about and Moby for around the house seems to be my choice. Although breastfeeding in a wrap like Moby is easier.
  • I just got an Ergo yesterday and I love it! I was able to nurse in it right away! They have infant inserts for baby's under 12lbs and after that you can use it without the insert as baby grows! Good luck
  • i have a few different slings for my little girl. She is two weeks and a little over 7#'s, and we have a hot sling that really just supports a little while we hold her in a across chest cradle while on a stroll. We also have a ktan, which is much nicer to my back, and I like because there isn't lots of fabric to mess with. The ktan is just a couple of steps, and she feels very secure. We also have a bjorn carrier that we were gifted, but I haven't even got it out of the box yet. Like pp have said, YouTube videos can help a lot, for visual learners. A Pinterest search will also bring up articles or videos to help you out. Happy baby wearing!
  • I just used my moby for the first time yesterday since DD is now over 8 lb and I don't think it's too hard. I watched a video to see how to tie it and how to put her in the hug hold and we were good to go. It was a tad loose so since we were just walking the dog I left it alone and supported her neck and butt instead of retying it. I need to go to the store today so I'm going to wear it again since it'll be a quick trip and I hate bringing the car seat in and taking up a whole cart with it
  • We love our ergo with infant insert.   At first I was very intimidated by it but after watching one YouTube video tutorial we had it down the first try

  • People with the ktan (or really any wrap type carrier): do you worry about your lo's legs falling asleep? I feel like they are so squished and sometimes he screams when I take him out... I feel like I'm cutting off circulation and then it hurts when the blood gets flowing again.

I also have the ergo and infant insert that I haven't tried yet. Seems like the leg issue will be the same though? Also, baby boy is almost 11 lbs. when do they stop needing the infant insert for the ergo?
  • @charliegoldengirl . The ktan can feel a little strange for me because it is very snug. but as far as little limbs losing circulation, babies legs would look pale or off color to the eye if there was a big issue. It may be the transition of leaving the sling and having unhindered legs again that sets off baby. But babies show very visible signs of oxygen deprivation if they are experiencing it. Hope that's helpful  :)

Yes very much - thank you! His legs are always bright pink and just have some creases from my shirt that look a little white against his pink skin. He is always very comfy and sleeping soundly while in it so I guess he is fine!
