Frequent hiccups — The Bump
Pregnant after a Loss

Frequent hiccups

I will be 33 wks tomorrow and wondering If it is normal for baby to have frequent hiccups? It's 2-3 times a day somedays. Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Frequent hiccups

  • Yes. It's normal. Baby is constantly swallowing fluid.  I have no idea if gassy foods in your diet will have an effect but it can't hurt to try and cut down on them.

  • Yes, normal! And baby might have them that often after they're born too. My boys both had hiccups a lot but grew out of it in a few months.

  • @ALC08 I've read that the hiccups are actually necessary to develop the baby's diaphragm.

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

  • Totally normal! Wouldn't be surprised if your little guy gets then fairly easily after birth too! How are you feeling?

Thanks ladies! I knew some were normal but i googled it a few days ago and pulled up some stuff about cord compression. Of course i still have a bit of fear of something happening so it freaked me out a little. I'm just ready for him to be here safe and healthy! @Plleriti1 I'm doing pretty good at the moment. Still just trying to get everything ready! Hope you can get a little more comfortable before he gets here! It won't be long!
  • @ALC08I'm pretty confidant at this stage, but I have a paranoia at night that if I tip toward my stomach too much when I'm sleeping on my side that maybe I'll crush the baby. Logic tells me that if babies were that easy to squish, they'd be a lot more losses, not to mention warnings about it. But good ol' PGAL brain has a good imagination. We'll always find something to be afraid of!
