  • I'm a supporter of creative names and usually dislike the term "misspelling" for a name... but Alivia looks like a misspelling to me. Really not a fan.
  • Olivia Claire. Not Alivia.

  • Unless this is pronounced significantly differently (the "O" in Olivia is a schwa so pronounced similarly to "A" with most accents anyway) or a recognised spelling from another country or culture, I wouldn't misspell Olivia. It's a beautiful name, it won't be any more unique spelled "Alivia".

I do like Olivia Cate or Olivia Claire

  • Agree with all pps. She'll be correcting the spelling her whole life. Olivia is a popular name (not necessarily a bad thing, it's a great name), but spelling it differently doesn't make it less popular, just more of a pain for your kid. I like Olivia Claire.

As far as Elle goes - that just means "she" in French and sounds incomplete to me. I think it's a great nickname for Eleanor or Eliana or even Danielle.
  • Olivia Claire
  • Olivia Claire
    Olivia Cate
    Olivia Sloane
    Elle Catherine

    ^^All of these would work

  • Definitely Olivia rather than Alivia.
  • There's a young actress (under 12) out right now whose name is Alyvia Lind. Fist time I saw that in the credits I was like WTF name is that/ how do you say that/ what nationality is that/ etc. Took me a few minutes to figure out that is was just "Olivia" spelled wrong. You don't want that first reaction when someone sees your child's name.
  • I know someone whose daughter is Alivia.  I think it is beautiful.

Dude....not only that, her middle name is Alyn. Oh the eyesore!! And the sad part is that her siblings are named like Natalie and Emily or something like that....spelled the correct way. So with Natalie, Emily, and Alyvia....it looks like they were drunk when they named poor Alyvia

  • I voted for Elle, because the spelling Alivia is awful. If it was spelled Olivia, my vote would have gone to Olivia Claire

  • I know 4 Alivia's with an A, so it does not look misspelled to me. I guess I'm used to it. I do like Olivia better, but I think Alivia is fine. All the Alivia's I know are children, so maybe it's the new normal. My vote is Alivia Claire.

  • BTN lists Alivia as a modern variant on Olivia. Sooooooo Speashul Snoflaeke.
  • Alivia sounds like a drug prescription--- please use Olivia or go with Elle Catherine

Our intention was not to have a "special" spelling. To us, Olivia is pronounced with the long o and Alivia starts with an "uh". Maybe that's just our regional experience. Thank you for the input so far!
  • I always pronounce Olivia with the Uh noise, most people I know do as well unless corrected. Just to throw it out there.

I'm a supporter of creative names too. When they are spun up by creative people.

If you pronounce it "Uh-livia" then others will too. Its a schwa as I mentioned before so the "a" is unnecessary
