Last night I experienced my first real heartburn encounter and it was AWFUL. I had a burning pain starting from just under my breasts up into my throat and neck. I couldn't lay flat or to either side. I had to sit up straight I'll night. Took tums and gas ex and neither really did the job.
Anyone else experience this? Any tricks? Any ideas what I should eat today because I'm still not feeling 100%.
Re: Heartburn anyone???
There are many experiencing awful heartburn for sure. My OB recommended Zantac once a day when needed. It's best to take about an hour before a big meal to prevent heartburn. Any time I've taken it then, I've had zero heartburn that day. You can see if your OB recommends anything as well.
Try staying away from trigger foods, like spicy foods, chocolate, peppermint, tomatoes, etc.

My friend (also preggo) swears by slippery elm powder but I read multiple online warnings about it potentially causing miscarriage so I'm definitely not using it!
Good luck- I HATE heartburn and get it all. the. time.
Not to be the bearer of bad news, but you will likely get it more often as you get bigger if you continue to get it. I had it the worst as my pregnancy progressed last time. I kept tums with me everywhere and took Zantac as needed.
Avoid: caffeine, carbs, acidic fruits and vegetables (tomato, oranges, etc), gum, excessive carbs, chocolate, spicy food, heavy meals, soda. Don't lay down within 60 minutes of eating.
Do: yogurt, milk, water, ice cream/frozen yogurt, snacking during the day, 5-6 small meals instead of 3 large ones.
Heartburn can also occur if it's been too long since you last ate, not just if ate too much.
