I get mine at 28 weeks. So about 3 weeks from now. My arm was a little sore the last time I got it but it wasn't too bad. Honestly the cervical cancer shot I got hurt worse, lol.
I haven't had mine yet but I'm not due until the end of June so I'm always later than most here. Hope your arm doesn't get too sore. I'll also second that the gardasil vaccine, particularly the third one in the series, was way worse than my last dtap booster (I got them at the same time in opposite arms so I could actually compare quite well).
I haven't had mine for this pregnancy yet (not sure if it needs updated or not) but it wasn't bad when I had it with my son. It left a weird red splotch for a while but I don't think that's common.
I haven't had mine yet, but I'm just coming up on 24 weeks. At my appointment on Tuesday, I'll ask about it. I kind of hope it's not the one after (28 week) because I have to get an ultrasound, and do the GD test too. I don't need a shot on top of that.
I just did the gd test. I don't know my results but the test was painless. I'm much more nervous about the shot and now I'm wondering if 27 is too early!
Does anyone know if us STM's need it again? I don't know how long it last?
They recommend it for every pregnancy. It's for the baby more than for you. They get some of the antibodies that way. Other people who will be around baby a lot should have had one in the last 10 years.
I got mine after I delivered with my first one, I think I was still in the hospital. I will ask my OB at my next appointment about getting it before delivery.
Rhogam wasn't terrible but the location was uncomfortable. Tdap I got at the same time as my flu shot with DS so both arms were sore and I couldn't lay on either side to sleep at night for two days. Had it been just the tdap I don't think I would look back on it with so much hate.
My ob hasn't mentioned it yet (I'm 24 weeks) but I do know it's suppose to be 3rd trimester so I'll say something at our next appointment. My niece was just born 3 months ago so I really want to get it for her benefit as well.
I also think it helps if you get it in your dominate arm, since you're more likely to use that arm throughout the day. I'm extremely lefty dominate and when I got the tdap at 17 they did it in my right and it was so uncomfortable for days. When I got it 3 years ago again, they put it in my left arm, I went to work and hardly noticed it since I was using it so much at work.
Thanks for the tip! I'm going to get it in my right arm (dominate arm). I have been trying to sleep on my left side so this should also be good with sleeping since some people have said they had soreness while laying on the arm with the shot.
Re: Getting tdap next week!
Its not bad! Make sure to move your arm a lot to avoid from getting all stiff and sore.
The Rhogam shot is honestly the most brutal I've ever had. Wayyyyyy worse than tetanus.
