April 2016 Moms

barely a month left!

So I'm due april 7th, but im trying to have everything in order by mid march JUST IN CASE she comes early and I don't want to freak out about getting stuff done.

We just got the nursery painted and new carpet in this past weekend so now we can finally build the crib and get things in order. Any mattress suggestions??? I was looking at some more eco friendly ones, but my friend gave me an angelcare monitor which says its not to be used with foam or dual mattresses. All the mattresses I see seem like the dual toddler/baby so im confused! And is the angelcare monitor worth it? is it more peace of mind or do the false alarms scare you more?

But I am definitely feeling the third trimester downsides.... feet are starting to hurt while standing even for a few mins, and they don't look super swollen but man from my knees down my calves and feet appear larger, and my shoes are all tight :( wore tennis shoes to work today since my feet felt like they were going to burst through my flats. I feel like I am forgetting to do so many things, this weekend is going to be a huge list of to dos and things to get in order oh my!!!! I have been super stuffy and tons of pressure in my head and my right ear is clogged, and im debating whether its worthy of a doctor visit or if its something I have to suffer through until she gets here.

Anyone else freaking out about getting stuff done and time running out? not to mention taxes need to get done as well lol.

Re: barely a month left!

  • I am starting to feel a little stressed/overwhelmed as well with all the things that need to be done before LO arrives. I am just trying to take it one task at a time and one breath at a time!
I just recently got over a sinus infection and ear infection after waiting it out for 10 days with no relief I went to the doctor and got antibiotics that cleared it right up in a few days, so worth the visit.
Good luck mama getting everything done!

  • Yup feeling the stress. Showers were canceled so now I'm on an online shopping spree to get the important stuff. Going coupon crazy! Cant do much on rest so DH is being a trooper in getting things set up. Hopping baby will stay put till 34 wks (ah two wks!)...ill be able to stress less if he can make it past that. Still have to finish the hospital bag, wash baby clothes, and so much more!
  • We have the basic necessities ready i.e. clothes washed and put away, hospital bag ready, bassinet and changing table ready. So I dont feel overwhelmed when I think of that. But I have a huge list ( 2 pages) of other little things like freezer meals, car cleaned, car seat installed, etc that I look at 3 times a week that makes me feel stressed and overwhelmed. Plus I just found out that we are going out of town a month and a half after LO is born for my BIL's graduation party. They decided to do it at their lake house, 3 hours away, instead of their house in town and do it on Memorial day weekend. So all day I've been calling resorts and cabins to find a place and everything is already booked except 2 places have a room left and my SIL and her family need a room too so I'm having to figure something out for them too.

Sorry that turned more into a rant lol

  • I have everything pretty much ready except we need to purchase our baby monitor but no rush there and we have enough gift cards to cover it..I may wait til right before baby to see if it goes on sale in the meantime.

My anxiety has been running pretty high for the last couple of days though. I think it's mostly due to lack of sleep plus my sister's wedding 2 months PP is freaking me out. With the costs of her Bridal shower, plus Newborn photos (obviously priority over her shower), plus my maid of honor dress, hotel for the weekend on the beach at peak time, plus the cost of the trip itself. I'm wigging out a little. I knew these costs were coming and we're prepared/preparing for them but it's still freaking me out to have to commit this much money with a newborn. We aren't even going to discuss the medical bills stress factors and the fact that I'll only be at 60% pay during this time period.

  • @kguitarchic18 I had an Angel care monitor with DD1 and I would say it wasn't worth it. We had many false alarms. Ended up giving it away.

I am due April 13 with LO 3 and I have done nothing to prepare. I have a growing list of to do's but we're buying a house and closing the end of March. So I really can't do anything to prepare at this point. Trying not to stress :)
  • Yup, no bedroom for baby or kitchen atm... Walked in expecting work to be done today and nothing was done. Called the hubby in "I'm going to lose my shit" mode.  5 weeks, f.I.v.e. weeks people.  All I want is a little drywall and a kitchen sink.
Def, officially, in freak out mode.
  • I'm excited for you ladies that have so little time left!!
  • @kguitarchic18  not sure about the monitor, but we got this mattress and it's organic, waterproof, lightweight, and has good reviews! It is a 2 stage mattress, so I'm not sure it will fit your needs.

  • I am definitely feeling like the time I have left is running out. Which I'm partially very happy about, but it can be a bit stressful! I find what helps me is making lists! And I try to divide the list into tasks and assign them to specific weekends or days I have off until my due date. It gives me peace of mind and helps me sleep haha! I still have to get his dresser/change table, finish washing and putting away his clothes, get a new monitor, install the car seat and pack my hospital bag. The rest is all decorative stuff!

  • Maybe it's because I'm a STM, but I seriously feel like this time around I haven't thought about ANYTHING! I mean, I have the necessities of a carseat and bassinet, diapers and a few outfits, but beyond that, I've hardly prepared for anything! Probably should get on that...
  • With my first I didn't nest at all, this time around I have been driving myself crazy!! I feel like there is so much to do and so little time. My due date is 3/30, but I feel like he will make his appearance a little early. Crazyyyy!

  •  This is my second and I have pretty much nothing done and I'm still not freaking out about it. Wondering if I should start freaking out. But honestly when they're first born all you really need is where their sleeping wherever you're changing them and lots of clean clothes and extra bedding.  We have a bassinet that I literally just have to put in our room, still use the changing table for my oldest so I don't have to worry about that, and I'm not worried about doing laundry because I can easily do that in a matter of an hour or two.  First time around I had everything done at this point.
  • April 3rd or before. This is my first... and I just had my baby shower and still need a ton of necessities!!! The nursery isn't even really set up. My mom wants me to get started on thank yous but I'm thinking buying and installing a car seat and getting of the rest of what I need for Baby Eliot should be the priority right now. Won't I have time for thank yous while nursing or waiting for the impending onset of labour?.. or c-section... the kid still hasn't flipped! Doesn't he feel the countdown stress too!
  • I'm definitely freaking out! My due date is technically April 3, they are doing my scheduled csection on March 25 because baby is measuring a week ahead and we're so behind on the nursery. Getting new carpet this weekend. So hopefully DH can paint int eh next couple days and we can get he furniture in this weekend. Then breastfeeding class next weekend, and then I have a licensing exam the following weekend. Less than one week from my csection so that's not going to be fun! Then I have to squeeze taxes in there somewhere lol.

The feeling is mutual - I didn't have a nursery with DS. I do this time around, but mostly because it gave me an excuse to clean out our storage room and finally finish it. I don't understand the need to get *all* the baby's laundry or anything else like that done so far in advance, because like you said, that doesn't take any time. I've got the actual necessities - diapers, wipes, clothing, car seat, sleeping spot.. so it's whatever. I enjoy buying random stuff here and there, but aren't feeling that much pressure to do so.

All you FTM's will be just fine! Don't sweat it too much!
  • I'm due the 27th... I have my freezer meals all done, and the nursery is ready. (Just waiting on that damn rug to arrive...) Still need to install the car seat, put away/organize the baby's clothes, buy/prep the cloth diapers (happening on the 10th) and pack the hospital bags. I really should get around to doing this kind of thing >.>
  • We just found out we are measuring a week ahead! So we're 35 wks instead of 34 wks. As If I don't already feel like im way behind and feel completely overwhelmed! My doctor said baby's are now considered to be developed at 36 weeks instead of 37. So much has changed since I was pregnant five years ago!
  • I'm a little farther behind the rest of you ladies. I have anywhere between 6 and 8 weeks left depending on if she comes on her own or I get induced.  I've slowly been acquiring things and putting things together.  The only thing that I would say I'm lacking on is diapers and wipes.  I finally bought a back of diapers this week.  I usually have stock piles by now.  But I don't feel like I need to rush anything. I'm going to enjoy this last month of "everything is easier while she's baking" before I start to panic.
  • Less than 5 weeks and I still don't have half of what I need... No car seat/ stroller... No diaper changing table or can... No crib sheets... No bath... No a lot of stuff... Hopefully a consignment sale this weekend will help with some of the nonessential essentials.
  • The only thing we have left to do is pack our hospital bag and clean out my car/install the car seat!

  • I'm not going to lie, I feel like I still have so much to do and sincerely no time left in a day. I'm due in 4 weeks, so there is still time...you know unless I explode or go early. My husband and I own our own business, but I pretty much run all of the daily logistics from inventory, supply, cleaning, and almost 100% of the customer service. I plan to take off as much time as I can (at least 6 weeks), but I'm starting to feel like that won't be possible since we've recently experienced a 300% increase in the company over the past month and continue to grow. Hubby will be taking over my duties for the first 6 weeks, I'll still try to handle customers from home...but with the current growth I've had 0 time to spend at home getting things ready. The nesting has started to kick in, only by the time that I get home I'm too exhausted to clean anything. The shower was this past Sunday, so I have a basement full of goods. We still haven't bought the car seat, but I'm hoping that we'll be able to get the ball rolling on that over the next week. We found a sheet rock guy on Craigslist (which was actually pretty awesome), so the babies room is ready to be painted and my mom is coming to do that tomorrow.  And now I just found out that I have to have my name legally changed to my married name on my license asap, since the insurance company is trying to deny coverage because my married name and license don't match. Can they even do that? Apparently, they can try! Oh and because we are crazy people, we just signed the contract to put our house on the market...wtf were we thinking? How long until we are allowed to drink a glass (more like a bottle) of red wine? So proud and jealous of all of you ladies that have everything ready and prepared! Can't wait to start seeing all of these little babes!

I have only changed my social to my married name. I was going to do my license in February since I had to renew it by March but nope thanks to bed rest. i haven't had and issues yet with disability and did my taxes with my married name. I'll have to make the change after LO is born (and pay again) but I'm hopping I can use my married name on his birth certificate without problem.
  • @Knottie2891384 The hospital told me that we could write what we wanted on the physical birth certificate, but they have to put the babies name under the mother and whatever is on her license during the hospital stay. So if he were to be taken to the nursery, they'd show him as my last name instead of my husbands. I'm not sure if your hospital would be the same, but I'm sure that you could ask if it would help take away some worry. I am so sorry to hear about your bed rest, and I hope that you are able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy without stressing! <3

I'm only concerned about the certificate...I would hate to ask for new forms a month later because of this. Just extra money to change my name.

Wait, what? What about if you're not married?
Whenever DS was born, DH and I were not married. In the hospital, his wrist/nursery tag was under my last name. (They room in though so that really doesn't matter.) His social security card also was filed in my last name. His birth certificate is filled out as his dad's last name - which was our intention all along. We are married now, but I did not change my last name legally with the marriage, so I'm guessing I will have the same dilemma this time around with the SS name being wrong for DD.

Fun fact, never got around to changing DS name on SS so when I file taxes I have to put him down as 'Elijah J.' instead of 'Elijah B.' I need to change that sometime before he tries to get a job and they realize he technically has an alias I suppose.

Or maybe my 5yo is just a super secret spy..  :D
  • I'm excited for you ladies that have so little time left!!
    Ditto!

  • Ladies, you are going to love this mess that I have gotten myself into.
So, last month I applied for a promotion that would move me to Houston. Well, I got it. So here we are, with 5 weeks before baby #2 arrives and in pure chaos mode! House is under contract in Austin. I am officially in Houston on my own starting this new role. Hubby and 2yo daughter are still in Austin, wrapping up his job and daycare. Looks like we will be living with inlaws temporarily when baby arrives while we look to buy a house. Oh yeah, don't have a daycare plan for 2yo or a nanny plan for newborn. Have not had time to plan for the arrival of this little one, but I did manage to pack a mediocre hospital bag. The good news is that I saw my new OBGYN and she said my blood pressure is fine and baby looks to go to term. Woo hoo!
  • Oh yeah, to answer the earlier post, we are going to try the Nest Cam for a monitor for this baby. Was previously Drop Cam but Nest purchased it. I had some friends use it and they love it!
  • I'm due in 4 weeks, unless he comes a little early. His nursery is finished, all I need to get are bassinet sheets and the baby carrier/wrap (my version of a stroller, lol). We need to put the car seats in our cars, and wash the clothes I got last weekend at my shower. I need to pack the hospital bag too. I get anxious going into the nursery now, I'm ready for a baby to be in there! Haha

For all doctors office, school, insurance purposes it has been what is in his birth certificate that matters. Taxes are the only thing that have to be under the name on his SSN. I honestly don't know which one takes the most legal presidence at the end of the day.

For hiring purposes, your name has to match on your SS and your BC (if you show both). However, I don't think one is "more" legal than the other. You'll just need to change one of them to avoid major headaches on down the road. It would probably be easiest (and cheapest) to change the SS one, because all you have to do is pay a small fee and bring a copy of your BC to get it updated. Literally takes like 10 minutes at the office, if you don't get stuck in line.
  • Definitely starting to feel like time is running out, add is April 3. Hubby is in month two of a new job/ pay schedule so it has thrown us off a bit. Plus March has a couple extra bills, ds bday, and easter.

Hubby's truck was totaled, he works this weekend, and we are waiting on insurance and taxes to go car shopping so we have a decent down payment.  Hopefully next weekend we can,  which puts me at 37 wks.
