What do you keep dc toys in?

Our son's toys are quickly overtaking our familiy room.  I need to put them in something but I can't decide what!  I don't know whether to get a basket, a toy box, and bench seat with storage inside....

What do you store dc toys in (and do you have a picture)?

Re: What do you keep dc toys in?

  • DS got a giant toy chest for Christmas in anticipation of all of his gifts.

  • We have a leather ottoman in the living room that we replaced our coffee table with and it is a storage ottoman so it works perfectly!!
  • A clear platsic tub.  We had been using the ottomon but ran out of room.
  • We store them in a wicker basket but that is now overflowing.

  • We had a basket but that got too small real quick so now we have a big clear plastic tub. I have a toy chest for him but I'm afraid of the lid falling and catching his head or little fingers so we'll wait on that til he's older.
  • We have a big leather storage ottoman in the living room. I LOVE it- at the end of the day I just put everything inside and the room is clean. Ours fits quite a bit (it's bigger than an average coffee table).
  • We have a basket for books, and then these boxes from Ikea for other toys (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60132842). They aren't too ugly, and we have a big one that fits perfectly in an Ikea bench/shelf thing we have. I also have some clemintine boxes from the grocery store, bc they are the same size as a lot of his board books. We keep most of his stuff on the bottom shelves of a bookcase, since he'd attack any books we would put there. Sigh.

  • We bought a couple baskets at ikea.  I want to go get another one (but it is a couple of hours away, so I am only going to go if I have a bigger reason!)  We actually have one that we have had for a couple of years as the dog toy basket and then we have on in the living room for here.  I want to get one for our upstairs living room and then I want to ge their Torfast system for her room.  We will most likely do a trip in the spring.  imageimage" align=baseline mce_src="image">

  • Her books are in a basket- and then her toys in the living room are in a nice beach bag from LL Bean with her name on it-

in her room she has a toy box- but that is just for cycling her toys out- she doesn't 'play' in her room.

  • I just got 2 floor bins (large baskets) from the Land of Nod. They are really big and beautiful. ?
  • I haven't found a toy box I like yet, so right now they are in a large plastic tote, and I also have those small colored baskets from BRU and those have his smaller toys in them

  • We just bought 2 leather storage ottomans for Christmas anticipating the chaos. We also got one of these for her closet:

  • I have a canvas box for her books and a small storage ottoman for her toys. We're waiting on a large storage ottoman to replace our coffee table (we redid our entire FR anyway) but I think most off DD's toys will end up in the basement in her soon-to-be play room (that's the plan at least ;)

Edit: I also really like the small storage ottomans because they can serve as extra seating when we have friends over or when I host book club. That and they look tidy since you can't see the mess inside ;)

  • I got this trunk from Pier 1 & it is good for camouflaging all the toys when I need to de-kid the place.

Ditto.  We use a couple big wicker baskets - one on each floor.

  • we got the step 2 toy box. its the one with the angled lid, so the lid actually opens into the top of the box and stays there. we leave it open so there is no risk of it falling on ds...love it!
