Super faint line.

I got a super faint line this morning. Today is the day that AF is supposed to come and I technically didn't use first morning urine because I got up in the middle of the night. They say a line is a line but I'm not really sure because it was so faint. Has anyone had experience with this?

Re: Super faint line.

  • I started testing at 10dpo with super faint lines...so faint that I had to tilt my head and stick up to the light to see it, before going cross-eyed. Eventually the line got darker.  My only advice for you is to continue to test until the line gets darker or AF shows. What brand of test are you using?  I use Wondfo's because their cheap and my super faint line was on a wondfo, so I tested with a FRER using the same urine and sure enough, a very visible pink line was there within a few seconds.

  • Even super faint lines has been positives for me. I just test with a pink dye test a couple days later, it's usually darker and there is no guessing. Talk to your doctor if you're still not sure.

Agreed. My first positive was 2 days after AF was to arrive and it was very faint, could barely see it in the picture but it was as dark as the control line today. Here is my test from last week.

  • Mine was faint first. My advice is take a digital. I found out a week ago with a faint like then a digital. Today it's super dark.

This is my 3rd pregnancy and all three times its been rather faint at first

A line is a line- keep testing every day or two- it should darken.

I tested again today (5 days later) and the line was instant and intensely colored. Just as dark if not darker than the control. Good luck & congrats!!

  • Do you know when you ovulated? Knowing when AF is "supposed" to start isn't always as helpful as knowing how many days past O you are. It could be earlier than you think. Keep testing the next few mornings and see what happens.

With my daughter, I got a really nice solid line at 9 dpo. This time around, even though I felt it just as much, the line at 9 dpo was much fainter. It started to get darker at 11 dpo.

    Good luck!

  • My husband is military and he was only on leave for 10 days in the middle of the month so if i am pregnant then it had to happen within those days. Which would go with when my ovulation was predicted to happen.

This exactly!  I also had the same experience.  With my son I had a extremely noticeable line at 9dpo, no squinting needed.  I tested at 9dpo this time and if it was any fainter it wouldn't have existed.

Right, but what @spacepotatoes is saying (correct me if I'm wrong) is that predicting O by using an app or counting 14 days after AF isn't accurate.  The only way to know for sure if you ovulated is by temping.  Cycles change.  You may have the standard 28 day cycle and then all of the sudden have a wonky 35 day cycle.  It changes.

  • @bellafirenze and @evilgreencows5 you may want to take those photos down. It's against the TOU to post pics of tests anywhere except the dedicated thread on the First Tri board. BGs may give you a warning if they are the ones to pull them down.

@CassyColberg a line is a line, as long as it's not an evap. If you can find non-curved FRERs in your area, they are the gold standard, otherwise pretty much any pink dye test will do (blue dye tests have been known to give false positives). Test again in a few days using FMU.

Also sperm can live up to 5 days so its possible that you ovulated later than you thought and there were still plenty of sperm up there to catch the egg when it did arrive. I have very "regular" cycles and have ovulated anywhere between CD12 (this past cycle) or CD18 (the cycle before I got pregnant).
