Do you have a nickname for it?

Husband announced the day of the result that he does not like our chosen boy name anymore. We still have not agreed on a new one. He started throwing out sci if names, and we are calling it 'Lothar' for now :-)

Anyone else have a nickname for the future baby yet?

Right now, we call ours "RIBS" which stems from a joke about the restaurant job where my husband and I met. Customers would get confused and rude about the bread baskets and ask for "*real* Italian bread," so RIBS stands for "real italian bread [his last name]"
..after seeing that typed out, I don't think we'll be sharing that one or explaining it to anyone else, lol.

  • MacMini. Two reasons for this. My husband is Makwa doodem - bear clan - and so this one really is the smallest Mak. Mac is also a nickname for my school and teensy one here will actually be born at my school so I think s/he has a right to the nickname.

  • I've stuck with a Doctor Who theme. Baby #1 was Pond, because I loved thinking "come along, Pond" whenever I went anywhere. This time around I went with River, since it's gender neutral and still dorky like me! A close second was Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All - Stormy for short (maybe for the next one).

Love Stormageddon. This kid is totally getting that as a nickname after s/he's born.

Sidenote: Rory and William are on our boy names list and one person suggested Rory William and we had a really, really good laugh while considering that one. All of our friends would get it.

  • Baby J since we have a girl and boy name picked out that both start with J.  Last baby we called Churro until we found out the sex.
  • We call it Charlie because if it's a boy that will be its name.  Which of course means that it will be a girl hahah

@nauticallife LOL we are hoping it's a girl because we don't agree on a boy name and because his sister will give us all my niece's stuff since all of her baby-having friends have boys. So of course Lothar will be a boy :-)
  • @nauticallife My daughter's name is Charlie (short for Charlotte.)

Hey, fellow Ontarian! My husband's cousin is a pharmacy technician at the Mac hospital. Small world!

We're currently just calling this baby "number two." We'll see what comes to us as things progress. I called DD my "bug" when I was pregnant with her because she looked like a little bug in her 8 week u/s pic. Later, when she started moving around constantly, she was my wiggle bug.

I just keep saying "this one" when talking about it.  Like when this one comes we will need to......

I don't think we had a nickname when I was pregnant for my son, my husband probably would have thought it was corny lol.

ETA: once we find out the sex we will call it by it's name I presume since thats what we did last time. :)

I'm actually from PEI, hah. We're only in Ontario for school then we might be moving overseas for a couple of years before going home.

  • Tommy. Even when DH was deployed last year he would talk about Tommy. We didn't even know when we would see each other again but he had plans to come home and create Tommy.

sidenote: He has no desire to name the baby Tommy. I just go along with it. I am hoping for a girl.
  • We never had a nickname for our daughter, so I doubt we will for this one. When it was a hypothetical baby, we called it "SJ", as in Summer Junior. (DD is Summer if you couldn't catch that). We haven't really called him or her anything. Are we weird?

  • We don't call it anything either. It's such an abstract idea to me at this point. Maybe it'll be more real after I first see him/her.

EXACTLY what happened with DD. Took us months to find a name, and her 5 male cousins didn't have much in the way of girls' clothes. Luckily we do have 1 niece!

  • We had a little twist on our last name (with Baby inserted into it) with DD. This time we're doing a slightly different twist on our last name. But in general it's still "the baby"

How funny my husband is in the Military as well and he calls the baby Steve. No interest in naming it that either just every month around the time of AF he would ask if Steve was in there. Just now on the phone he told me "I can't wait to welcome Steve into this world." I call my dogs bean, bubba, nugget etc... So Steve really was the only option haha.

Hilarious. Must be a military thing?!!!? I call our dogs ms. Fluffy pants, chubbs, curbear and hyena...also not their real names

This exactly!! Even after I knew my daugher was a girl, an we picked a name, it was still so hard for me to grasp it. Who would she be? What would she like? I'm hoping I can visualize/imagine things better this time, but I'm not so hopeful, haha. And I have a crazy good imagination!
