Raging heartburn & indigestion

I have suffered from acid reflux for years and been on a once daily dose of Nexium for years. Once I got the BFP I stopped taking Nexium but I have been totally miserable with indigestion & heartburn to the point of not being able to eat anything. I have been taking Zantac 150 the past few days but its not really doing anything for me. I havent talked to my doctor yet - my next appointment is next Monday so I was planning to discuss it with him then. But I am curious if anyone else has had this issue or knows of any stronger reflux meds that are still safe to take? I am living off of crackers, toast, and veggies and that is just not cutting it! Thanks ladies.

  • I'm sorry you're going through that.. it sucks! I'm just dealing with nausea and constipation at this point but I know the heartburn won't be far. It was REALLY bad for me last pregnancy.

Here is one thing that helped me sleep.. it sounds crazy but it worked. I had a small pregnancy pillow that looked like a Boppy (not the full body ones) and I wrapped it around my neck and slept with it practically sitting up. Wasn't too uncomfortable and helped with the heartburn at night.

  • The pillow is a great idea. I have just been using regular bed pillows to prop myself up at night b/c I can't lay flat due to the reflux. That, however, is not super comfortable and giving me a crick in my neck so the special pillow sounds like a must!

  • Oh my gosh I'm glad I saw this. I haven't suffered from any reflux since my last pregnancy. It was so bad I went to the ER last night because of crazy chest discomfort that had been waking me up. Felt so silly. Anyhow, avoid the spicy foods, orange juice, tomato based stuff, and so far the only relief I've gotten is from gaviscon, kept cold in my fridge. It's so awful and I feel you're pain. I'm concerned about what third tri will bring me.
  • I've been having really bad reflux as well. I know its linked to my bad diet at the moment - but I can't help it. I eat what stays down. The healthier options smell AWFUL and make me want to vomit. Propping myself up with a massive amount of pillows at night is helping for sure!
