Baby wearing after c section

Just wondering if anyone has worn their babies after a c section? How long did you have to wait? Any comments/suggestions?

Re: Baby wearing after c section

  • I was wearing her a few days out, but my c/s recovery was pretty easy. The carrier wrapped much higher than my incision.

  • I started baby wearing a couple of weeks after my c/s. I would have started sooner but I didn't buy a carrier until it became a necessity. Like PP, my carrier didn't sit at/on my incision, and I wore the hospital binder pretty much all the time as well.

  •  I started within the first two weeks. I just wore the binder that I was supposed to around my midsection. Your doctor will advise you to look what you can and can't do.
  • I ordered a nesting days wrap I'm super excited to try it as soon as I'm up and walking from my c-section

  • Most appropriate newborn carries should be high enough to not irritate your incision.  I used a ring sling early on (probably within a week or so of delivery) with no problems.

  • I first wore my son after about a week.  Any carrier with a waist strap should actually be worn higher up you torso when they are so little so that they are "visible" and "kissable".  It has the added benefit of not touching your sensitive belly.  I also have an onbu that doesn't have a waist strap. It's been great for carrying my toddler while pregnant.
  • I started wearing DS when he was about a week old. It was no problem.
