October 2016 Moms

I can't stop worrying about this...

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this, but I can't stop thinking about this and it's really worrying me :(

My last menstrual period was 1/5. So when I went to the doctor, they gave me an adjusted due date of October 11th.

Fast forward a couple weeks, and I had some light bleeding so they gave me an ultrasound (ended up being a subchorionic bleed). Based on October 11th, I thought I was 6w2d at the time. Then, baby measured only 5w6d. So they readjusted due date to October 14th... they said it was no big deal.

I just went back for a follow up ultrasound yesterday and they said baby was measuring 7w1d instead of 7w3d that I should have been based on first ultrasound (heartbeat of 140). So they readjusted my due date for October 16th.

I know in the grand scheme of things, October 11th to October 16th is only 5 days. But I can't stop freaking out that every time I go to the doctor, baby seems to be measuring smaller than what I thought I was.

Also, I got a positive pregnancy test on 1/30 (very very light). So, if my due date was 10/16.. I would have only been 6DPO at the time of a positive test. Is that even possible?

I've never experienced a loss before, but this is freaking me out... I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this?

Did your doctor seem worried? If he/she is saying everything is fine, I would trust that. If it will make you feel better, call the office and talk to a nurse about your concerns. FWIW, I had an early US this morning. I'm 6+2 based off of O day and she dated me a couple of days behind. When I expressed concern, she said she's only concerned if she sees someone who is 8ish weeks and measuring at 5ish weeks (just an example). Were you temping to confirm O? It may be that you O'd later than "normal" so dating based off of LMP a wouldn't be accurate.
Take a deep breath, call your OB if you think it will be reassuring and remember, today you are pregnant.

Edited because mobile bumping is stupid.

  • @MRSCORKER Thank you for the reassuring note! No, they did not express any concern.. but I didn't bring up that I got a positive test on 1/30. We weren't tracking ovulation with temping, so there is a chance that I ovulated later. However.. I had been VERY regular (28-29 day cycles on the dot) and we had a lot of sex during when I thought I was ovulating (1/15-1/19). Then I think we only had sex once after that.

If your doctor had concerns, you would know. It's possible you O'd even a few days later than you thought you did. Try not to borrow trouble but like I said, if it will make you feel better, give your OB office a call and explain the timing like you did here in your post and see what they say. You pay them to answer your questions and take care of your medical needs and I promise you, they get crazier questions/phone calls than this one!

  • For my 1st pregnancy, I had an IUI so I knew exactly when I conceived, yet the baby always measured smaller at ultrasounds.  The doctors were never concerned so I tried not to worry (easier said than done!)

Also I remember reading somewhere that those early ultrasounds are difficult to be completely accurate.  If they even are a small amount off in the measurement, it can make a big  difference!  It should all even out in the long run
