QOTW: We have decided his name. We knew his first name before we ever got pregnant and had his middle name before we knew the gender. We had a girls name picked out too. :) We are waiting until birth to announce his name to the world.

  • Welcome at @AdorkablePixie ! It's nice to see you here!

We made a trip back to see our friends and family back home this weekend (6hr drive)...well this, combined with my 31 week belly has lead to awful hip and lower back pain that prevented me from sleeping most of the night Friday and Saturday. So that was a rough weekend, and today was a long day. Thankfully my physio squeezed memin today, and I have a massage scheduled for Wednesday...

I also had an OB appointment this morning, but that was pretty uneventful (won't complain about that). One really cool thing is that as she was checking for baby's position, she was literally holding both sides of his little head. It was so cool to know where it was exactly.

QOTW: We had the first name picked out well before I was pregnant. My husband doesn't believe middle names are important, and if left to him, our baby just wouldn't have one. I had though of going for one of his middle names (he has two), which happens to be his dad's first name, and the last name of our RE, who we owe this baby to. DH is not fond of this idea. I've suggested another name, just because it sounds good. He'd be fine with that. Or he'd go with 'Wheytforit' (inspired by How I met your Mother), just to prove his point that middle names are useless...
  • @CTinNV Does it drive people nuts that you won't tell people the name yet? My coworkers keep trying to guess and so does DH's brother. I find it amusing. :)

@KidShrink It's nice to see you again. :) I guess your DH is right, unless you plan to call your child by their middle name it doesn't really serve a purpose. Until you get mad at the child and you have to use their full name when you're yelling to get the point across. lol

How do they check for baby's position?

  • @AdorkablePixie: It's interesting, because I've never had anyone (including my parents) call me by my middle name (I guess the first is long enough...it's a composed French name, so people where we live now typically call me by the first part of it, which would be my nickname). DH doesn't have a composed name, but nobody ever calls him by his full name either...maybe it's a cultural thing, not sure.

The doctor essentially feels my belly, and somehow can find it. I knew the head was down from the 3D ultrasound we did a few weeks ago (he's been head down since at least our NT scan), and she reassured me that's it's quite rare that they'll turn so close to the end because there's very little space to do so. Sorry I can't explain it much more than that...I have trouble feeling parts, but I think that's mainly because he's facing my back, so other than feeling his kicks inside, and feeling his bum and legs wiggle on each side of his bum, I'm not getting those crazy kicks where you can see a foot or hand.
  • @AdorkablePixie , it certainly drives my in-laws nuts. This is their first grandchild, and my MIL in particular likes to know everything.

I also have a great update! Yesterday's OB check showed I'm dilated to a 2+! I'm so excited!

  • Hello everyone, had my weekly local OB visit, still having the debilitating headaches, and after further testing my body is just not absorbing the extra iron supplements so I am going in for an IV iron infusion tomorrow for 4-5 hours.  They also said I might need a blood transfusion before, during, or after the C-section depending on my hemoglobin levels.  Other than that I am at 34 weeks 4 days and am pleased to have made it this far, my personal goal was 34 weeks.  I go to the MFM specialist on Tuesday morning and he will also check me for dilation and possibly just do the C-section if he sees any progress or if either baby is showing signs of distress or lack of growth.

QOTW: My DH has first names picked out and my inlaws are in charge of the Chinese middle names.  My faith has naming wait until the birth and the bris if boys, which they are, so I get the final say :)
