C-sections

Anyone deal with risk of uterine rupture?

Went to see doctor today. I was telling him about some pain I was having near my scar and he checked it and said he was a bit worried. The possability of uterine rupture worried him. He said because I got pregnant again less than 18 months before my last C-Section there is a risk with the scar tissue from the surgery. Now he wants to monitor and check me every 4-5 days until its time for my RCS. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Anyone deal with risk of uterine rupture?

  • I understand that I am at a higher risk for uterine rupture because my first c-section was a classical (vertical) incision rather than the lower transverse incision.  Because of this,  I will have a c-section if I go into labor or latest, at 37weeks.  How far along are you?  Good Luck.

  • 36 weeks now and see the doc again in a couple days. Just worried now because there is a lot of pain in the area around my scar and I can't tell the difference between normal residual scar pains or possible tissue tearing

  • I am a FTM so I don't have any advice on RCS pain. But I had previous abdominal surgery before this last pregnancy and it hurt so stinking bad around 36 weeks+....I literally had to hold my belly at the end of the day because it felt like my insides were falling out. And I had no risk of uterine rupture. I would say if your doctor is concerned definitely take it easy. But, I wouldn't freak out I remember my pain just from muscular scar tissue. I am sure with our second uterine scar tissue will hurt much more (which is a statement)
  • Hi, I had a uterine rupture during vbac 10 years ago and have been closely monitored throughout my current pregnancy due to repeat rupture risks, I am having a c-section at 36wk 5days to avoid labor. I have been seeing a perinatalogist for u/s monitoring throughout to monitor the integrity of my scar. Have they offered you an u/s or specialist consult ?

    good luck!! Jody
  • Update, had my RCS last week. Rupture threat cleared up after 37 weeks and everything went well
