Pregnancy Weekly Chalkboards

I want to start doing those cute weekly pregnancy chalkboards with photos of my growing bump so I figure I'll start showing soon. I don't necessarily plan to share every week (I haven't even announced publicly yet) but would like them for personal keepsakes. How does everyone do these? Do you just buy a chalkboard and some fun colored chalk and write your own messages? Do people buy weekly ones at Etsy and print them out? How are they customized? I'm looking for something really cute (it's our first) but also not a lot of effort and money. I have no artistic talent! Thanks!

Re: Pregnancy Weekly Chalkboards

  • I haven't done it personally, but looking at them I think some people buy a chalkboard, then photoshop the words in.

  • I just use photofy for my pictures. You can edit them on your phone.
You would just hang the chalkboard up and put the words over that :)

  • I've seen them with the words photoshopped over the chalkboard or when they actually write on the chalkboard. I can't imagine people would get 40(ish) signs printed from Etsy.

If you go the route where you actually write the words on the chalkboard, I would suggest chalk markers instead of chalk. They're much brighter and easier to write with.

I learned the hard way that you have to erase the markers right away, otherwise they won't come all the way off.

  • Baby pics app is a great alternative if you have a smart phone.
  • I got a very inexpensive one at Michael's and nailed a nail to hang it on our fence. I change up how I style the number every week - but I don't write anything but the name (I already know gender) and the weeks.

Really easy, and you'd be surprised at how easy/little artistry writing the numbers requires. I use normal chalk from RoseArt that was in the kid's aisle (I have a lot of chalkboards in my home...so therefore a lot of chalk laying around)

  • @MSUgrad12 use Lysol wipes for chalkboards markers. Works like a charm. That's what I use in my classroom and for my wedding chalkboards.

  • @MSUgrad12 I love your picture! And how simple it seems. I just played on the app and i saw the 13 week sticker you used, but did you add your own text? I like the circle design of the week numbers better than their premade "baby is the size of a " stickers

Thank you. Yes. I added my own text underneath. The font is the second one down i think
