Update- DD had her surgery

hi everyone,

so dd had surgery on thursday. She had a tough start- she spent 4 days in the NICU after birth when she failed to poop after 40 hours post birth. After some testing she passed her meconium and it was thought her problem was a meconium plug. She started eating better and pooping and we went home. Three days later she stopped eating and had to be admitted to the NICU again. She was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's disease and had surgery to remove the affected portion of her bowel (luckily a small section) and is now recovering. This NICU stay has been nearly two weeks and she should be home in a few days but I must admit I am EXHAUSTED from the stress and worry plus trying to spend as much time as possible with her at the hospital and with our older two. The doctors have been great and our families have been wonderful but I just hate that wherever I am I'm not with one or more of the children. I'm also stressing because life with Hirschsprung's can vary greatly and so while she had a milder case, I'm worried about going back to work and if I should consider quitting and staying home for the first year at least. Soooo basically this is an update AND a vent.

So happy surgery went well! Don't be too hard on yourself about how you spend your time . I'm sure you are doing what's best for you and your family. In time you will know the right decision to make for you in terms of returning to work. Best of luck and hang in there :)
