I found out about my miscarriage a few days ago. I'm having a D&C on Tuesday. Any reason why I can't have a glass of wine tonight? I should be able to, right?

I ate a cold lunchmeat sandwich after I found out my baby no longer had a beating heart, the day before my d&c.

I don't think there are restrictions for the d&c. Just not eating after midnight the night before, right?

I couldn't do it for the 5 weeks my hcg levels were slowly decreasing, because as you said, it just felt weird. Once they hit <2 I hit the pino grigio :-)

I hear ya. When my HSG was still pretty high I was too nauseous....had pizza, cake, and wine the night after we found out and puked. Now that my hormones are crashing, I don't need anything else that could set off migraines.

After 8 weeks of missing wine desperately during my pregnancy, that first glass of wine that I had the night I found out my baby had no heartbeat was actually probably the worst I've ever tasted. It took my a couple weeks to enjoy it again.

One thing to pay attention to- after your D&C your doctor will likely prescribe an antibiotic. The one that a lot of women are prescribed- I forget the name, started with an M- is extremely dangerous to drink on. So don't drink the night before your surgery. Go ahead and have that wine tonight!

It does feel weird and sad to start doing those things again that you couldn't do while pregnant. By all means have a glass of wine or a cocktail! If anyone on the planet deserves a drink it's all of us ladies who are going through all of this! So sorry for your loss.

@chloe97 I think you're thinking of metronidazole (brand name Flagyl). For others FYI-it well definitely make you very sick if you drink alcohol while taking Flagyl!

I felt this way too... I felt sad for a while doing things like drinking wine and eating sushi, even though I had missed them so much when I was pregnant.

I had my first beer on Saturday, even though I had known about my MMC for more than a week prior. Making the decision to have a drink was a bit difficult. It's like officially acknowledging that there is no baby. But man, it tasted great.
