Weekly Menu Check-In (Feb. 27)

What's on the menu this week?

Trying anything new this week?

GTKY: Who decides the menu? You? DH? Kids?

Re: Weekly Menu Check-In (Feb. 27)

  • What's on the menu this week?
    Sat: Souvlaki
    Sun: Loaded baked potatoes
    Mon: chicken tacos
    Tues: cheese raviolis
    Wed: Ordering Pizza
Thur: DH isn't home, so I'll probably eat soup or something
Fri: A frozen one skillet meal

    Trying anything new this week?
I don't normally do souvlaki or loaded baked potatoes. They aren't necessarily new, but they'll be different.

GTKY: Who decides the menu? You? DH? Kids?
I decide the menu. DH doesn't cook at all, so he's at my mercy. I was a relatively picky eater when we met, so he's been pretty tolerant of my weird menu choices. Pregnancy hasn't helped. I can't seem to be able to eat the same meal twice, and meat has been off the table. I'm giving chicken another chance this week. We'll see how it goes.

  • We actually planned a menu for this week! Last week didn't work out too well...

What's on the menu this week?

Sat- meat market hotdogs and corn on the cob
    Sun- grilled chicken and salad
Mon- breakfast for dinner: breakfast burritos
Tues- hamburger and rice (a DH specialty)
    Wed- chicken stir fry
    Thur- spaghetti
    Fri- left overs

    Trying anything new this week?

Not this week, basically all stand bys

GTKY: Who decides the menu? You? DH? Kids?

I require that DH supply one meal idea a week, otherwise I fill in the gaps. This week was not a Costco week so I'm working with the protein we have on hand.

  • Saturday: Who Loves Ya Baby Back Ribs (I'm fortunate that my waves of discomfort are limited to the mornings, so evening is a-okay, as long as I can stay awake!) with Sauteed Brussels Sprouts and a box of Mac and Cheese
Sunday: Slow-cooker pork and kale with rice (kinda like Chinese take out)
Monday: A ground beef chili I made and froze several weeks ago
    Tuesday: Sausage and Peppers sandwiches
Wednesday: Enchiladas and Avocado salad (I have been craving Mexican food and am trying to limit us to once a week so DH doesn't lose his mind)
Thursday: Homemade Spaghettios (basically a saucy soupy tomato sauce with chedder melted in, it tastes much better than the canned variety but I hope it satisfies my cravings for children food)
Friday: Tomato sauce from the freezer

Nothing new for us this week, I'm too tired to cook and DH is taking over. For his sake, I'm picking tried and true recipes

I do the meal planning and make the grocery list. DH's input is mainly on which recipes go into the regular rotation and which ones go into the "never again" pile.
  •  @celette482 I'd love the recipe for homemade Spaghettios! I bought some earlier today and am so excited to eat them. I just avoid looking at the nutritional and ingredient info ;)

I second this! Sounds really good!
  • Just wanted to bump this up. I saw some people asking about food on the symptoms thread, so I figure this should be moved up...
  • What's on the menu this week?
Crockpot chili is cooking as I type for dinner tonight
Tomorrow is Chicken and Mushrooms with rice
    Wed- breakfast for dinner
    Thurs-leftovers
Fri-Leftovers I foresee having both the chicken and the chili left over.

    Trying anything new this week?
Yes I found a really good sounding recipe for the chicken and mushrooms so I hope it is good.

GTKY: Who decides the menu? You? DH? Kids?
We decide together. DH is actually really helpful in this department.

  • You guys might have brought back my appetite! Can I come over for dinner? j/k!
I'm sure by the time I get home from work nothing will sound good. I didn't meal plan or grocery shop this weekend because I was so busy. Thank you for the inspirational menu ideas, maybe I will make a grocery list tonight!

I do since I shop and cook. But I always ask F what he wants. My 4yo will eat about half of what we eat. Otherwise she gets macaroni or a sandwich
