That's awesome!! My plan A is a homebirth and we're doing a mindfulness class which is similar to hypno but it ties in with Yoga. I figured if I built off of something I practiced, it would be easier to remember when things get crazy. Have fun with it!
We took a hyponobirthing class with DS and loved it. We practiced the visualizations and breathing every night for months and It worked great for us during labor. I hope you enjoy it! Good luck.
I'm not taking a specific class, but I've been listening to the "fear free childbirth" podcast someone on TB suggested, as well as reading a hypno birth book and just practicing breathing, mantra meditation, visualization and relaxing my body. FTM, so I hope this helps.

Read the book, took the class and listened to the rainbox relaxation music nightly before giving birth to my first. My daughters birth didn't go as planned, had to be induced at 41w 5 days but i credit hypnobirthing with helping me go 7 hours on pitocin with back labor before asking for an epidural and when the epidural failed to work while pushing for 3 hours. I really think it was the hypnobirthing that helped me avoid a c-section. Im having twins this time around so im not sure if i will have the chance at a natural birth as about half of twin births are scheduled csections for various risk reasons. Keeping my fingers crossed though!
Not doing this, but my boss was the first recorded hypnobirth in Florida in the late 50's. I won't tell you how that went for her Mother because I'm sure we've advanced quite a bit since then, but good luck!!!
My only close friend with a child did Hypnobabies with her little girl and absolutely raved about it! So much so that she's let me borrow all of her home study material so that I can start the courses myself soon. I'm excited and nervous, but she's promised to help me through it if I need

Lurking from Feb16 - I actually just searched "hypnobabies" to see if anyone on TB was talking about it recently;) Hope you guys don't mind while I rave for a moment...
I used Hypnobabies (their home study course) with my 2nd birth and it was AMAZING! 17.5 hours of my 18 hour labor were very comfortable. Then end was tough, but that was because I lost focus and didn't remember to use my hypnobabies tools through the last 15 minutes of transition and 15 minutes of pushing. All in all, it was still absolutely incredible compared to my first birth, which was a medicated induction. In all honestly, if my epidurals (3 tries) with my first birth had worked properly, I would not have been interested in an unmedicated birth. I'm not a very crunchy gal, in general. But despite not having that deeply personal desire for an unmediated birth, I was able to fully embrace the hypnobabies mindset, and it absolutely worked!
I have studied the home study course again during this pregnancy. I am currently 41+2, patiently (ha!) waiting for this little one to arrive, and very excited to see how the HB works again!
I am interested in trying this but the cost on top of what we are paying for a doula may not make sense for us financially. It sounds like the feedback is that it is definitely worth it though. I wonder how good I would be at self hypnosis since I have ADD?
@MeganF08 check with your library! They may have materials on hypnobirthing that you can use. I've relied on my local library for most of my pregnancy reading.
I am in birth class choosing h*ll. There are so many options: Hypnobirthing, Hypnobabies, Bradley, Birthing From Within, among others. Can't figure out which one do to, or none, and just wing it with some books and practice. Any advice would be welcome.
[All classes in my area are $350-400, last 6 weeks at 3 hours apeice and I also worry that DH can't stay involved for that amount of time.]
I am another Hypnobabies success story. Out of all the options I chose it because it claimed to teach the same hypno anesthesia that people who are allergic to anesthesia use before getting dental work and such. I was still skeptical but honestly it really did work. It didn't totally eliminate sensation but it altered the way my mind responded to it and how I felt about it. I would say I experienced discomfort not pain during my unmedicated labor. 12 hours with a 9lb baby and a total birth high afterwards. Very calm birth room. Studying again with these materials this time around.

Good luck and I hope baby comes soon! I was 41w3 with my last DD. I feel your pain (patience stops existing after 41w). Would love to know if the hypnobirthing worked again. Heading over to lurk F16 birth stories again....

What did you end up choosing?
Where I live there is one Bradley instructor and two Hypnobabies.
I'm curious about both, really as a way to get involved and get the discussion and work going with DH...
I haven't decided if I am getting a doula yet... I would like to but discussing it with DH is a bit stressful ... He relates it to hiring a mom lol
