Handling hot weather!

Heading to Mexico tomorrow and it's 29 Celsius over there. So far baby's been exposed only to under 10 since we live in Vancouver. Anyone from hot states have any tips on keeping LO's cool in the heat? My condo is air conditioned and I'm used to spending a lot of time in it, but I'd like to go to the beach in the mornings!

Re: Handling hot weather!

  • Hats. Light clothes. No socks. I sometimes use a cold wipe behind her neck and forehead if she gets real hot.
  • Loading the player...
  • Short sleeve onesie and light blanket to cover up from the sun.
  • I'm in South Texas and my son sleeps with just a diaper and is swaddled. And short sleeved onsies with no pants during the day.

Then again the kid hates pants.

My lil lady also wears mostly dresses with no sleeves and no socks ;) we in north texas ;)
  • I am in Texas also and my baby just hangs out in a short sleeved onesie without socks.  He seems to be a sweaty baby so he is sometimes just in his diaper around the house if I feel he is getting too hot.  Cold washcloths also help a lot!
  • Alright! I have a surplus of tshirt onesies so this is good!! I'm so nervous that he's just gonna burn up!! I'm not even planning on taking him in the sun so I don't know why I'm worried!
  • Since he's/your not used to the heat be sure to drink extra water and feeding him often to keep dehydration away
  • I'm in AZ, and it's already hot. We keep her in a diaper most of the day but when we go out its a short sleeve onside and no socks or hats! She does great, and we use a very thin receiving blanket to cover her from the sun, like in her carrier.

Thanks! He's formula fed so I'll feed him more of that if necessary. I'm pretty used to the heat since I go my Mexican condo quite often. Just haven't taken Lo.
  • Also in AZ and I already have the AC on. Where you're going at 84 degrees won't be too bad. We've been up to 89 recently and had LO in a short sleeve onesie and shorts. Stay in AC as much as possible. When outside the beach breeze will make up for the heat especially in the am. Our only remedy to stay cool is little clothing and AC
  • I'm on Guam, we keep little one in cool clothing  when outside, if we're in the beach we bring an umbrella to keep her under. when inside our home in the aircon we keep her in footed sleepers, but we keep our house cool.
  • I bought DD a ton of dresses for the spring and summer. All of them vary between sleeveless and short sleeve dresses. I also bought a lot of onesies for bedtime.

  • Well we're in Mexico!! Yesterday we went to the beach and Carlos stayed under the umbrella all day. But today under his eyes is a bit red. Not sure it's from being warm or from a very mild sunburn but we are staying on the balcony today during the hot times. :( just to be safe!
