Hello!
From another thread I realized there are at least a few of us watching Idol this season. Wanted to start up a thread to leave some thoughts/comments in. Who did you love? Who do you hate? Anyone that you wish had made the Top 10 that wasn't given a chance?
Re: American Idol Watchers
As for finalists that I wish had made the Top 10 last night..
I was pretty bummed about Thomas Stringfellow. I didn't think he was going to win the whole thing, but I wanted to see a little more from him (though his performance wasn't great this week).
My husband and I also liked Manny but weren't surprised to see that he didn't make it.. he was just lacking something for us.
As for those in the Top 10 that I wish weren't
Tristan McIntosh - Her audition was heart warming but I haven't connected with her since. I just don't like her voice. Also Gianna - I'm just not getting it. Too teeny-bopper for me.
Last night:
I'm still loving MacKenzie (not his best performance), Lee (terrible song choice), and Trent (love his vibe). La'Porsha was jaw-dropping and Sonika was also great. The rest I found to be pretty forgettable.
As for Top 10, there are a few I'm not a huge fan of, mainly Tristan and Gianna. Im also not a huge fan of Olivia although she does have a great voice, just not my cup of tea. I was sad and shocked to see Jenn Blosil leave. And I liked Manny too.
From last night: LaPorsha killed it! I have loved her from the auditions. I was also a huge fan of Fantasia and was sad to see her career didn't take off after winning. But I think LaPorsha could easily become a big voice pop star like Demi Lovato, Christina A, and Beyonce. Loved her song choice! Avalon is growing on me. I didn't like her at first but she has character. I also think Dalton is just too cute to not love. He doesn't have the best voice but he is so fun to watch. I think Lee John will get lost early which is a shame bc he is really talented but not show stopping.
I am 100% with you on Olivia. Last night was the first time I said Oh! She has a nice sounding voice, before that I was just baffled by what the judges were seeing in her.
I think Lee will get lost in the shuffle as well.
Dislike: Olivia (I just don't like the sound of her voice, does nothing for me), Lee (he's cute and is ok, but I think he's too young and is pretty forgettable).
Meh: I like Avalon, but don't think she'll be around too long. I liked that she had that "I'll do/wear whatever I want" style but that's gone now that she's getting all dolled up. From the auditions I thought Tristan could win it all, but for me, she peaked there. She's not country so if she wants to win/go far, she needs to switch lanes now. Gianna is cute, and I think the fact that her mom is/was famous helped, but she's not long for the competition if she keeps singing like she did last night.
The only one I was surprised didn't make the top 10 was Jen. I love how quirkey she is and thought she could have really brought some personality to the show.
I've always loved American Idol and have watched I think all but one season of it... I'm actually sad it's ending this year! I always like finding others that watch it because I joke that I'm probably the last person in the US who still loves it so much
Who was your favorite?
Who was your least favorite?
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead?
March 3rd Episode:
Who was your favorite? I think my favorite of the night was Trent? I'm having a hard time remembering. Overall I was not a huge fan of the song choices.. and don't tell Trent not to make faces when he sings - he's full of emotion, let that show. Still pulling for MacKenzie and Dalton to do well
Who was your least favorite? Asides from those who battled it out in the bottom, I think my least favorite was LaPorsha? But that might just be my Beyonce hatred oozing out - and truthfully I zoomed through most of her performance. Can my least favorite be Harry Connick Jr? He was awful!
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead? I was SO thrilled by the results - truly I would have liked the see Tristan be in the very bottom versus the last one safely in. If she was in the bottom I would have sent home Tristan and Diana. I'm still not complaining about Diana and Olivia.
I LOVED Kelly Clarkson and have since the 1st season and her new song is amazing
Who was your least favorite? Agreed! Harry Conick Jr performance was borderline embarrassing!
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead? I was relieved when Avalon was saved! I was worried they were going to keep Olivia since she was a top 4. Not a fan of Pink, not a fan of her happy to see her go.
Sebastian 3-11-14
Simon 5-2-15
Baby #3 Due 9-29-16
Who was your favorite? I liked Trent and LaPorsha. I also thought Tristan did a great job for the first time since her audition.
Who was your least favorite? It's not that I didn't like him, but I was a little surprised that Dalton didn't change it up more. He's usually a lot more unique and this week he was just ok for me.
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead? I wasn't surprised by the results and was ok with Olivia and Giana going home. I never really understood the fuss around Olivia anyway.
Who was your favorite? Pregnancy brain has me forgetting the whole episode.. was this the week of duets? I was worried about Dalton at first but loved his solo performance. MacKenzie was also fantastic for me, can't remember who else stood out.
Who was your least favorite? Still not enjoying Tristan. I think her voice is ok, but she has such a small range, where you'd expect her to go for a high note, she just yells. Ugh. GO HOME
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead? Sonika saved - Lee Jean and Avalon go home. I'm still hoping that Tristan goes home. Also.. how are we already at Top 6 - does this season feel super rushed to anyone else? So many double eliminations - I feel like I hardly know some of these singers and it's nearly over! Either way, pretty content with the results.. just want to keep seeing Trent, Dalton and MacKenzie go through, the rest don't matter as much to me!
Who was your favorite? Again I loved LaPorsha! And was so happy to see Dalton do well on his solo. Mckenzie did awesome on both duet (outshined Dalton for sure) and solo. He's becoming a fave. Maybe even more than Dalton!
Who was your least favorite? Agreed with Tristan. I think shes just too young. Lee Jean didint do so well but I think he knew it was over for him.
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead? Im sad Avalon is gone. Sonika is good but not my fave. Agreed it does feel rushed!! Why are they sending home 2 ppl every episode? And didn't it used to be performances one night and eliminations they next?
I must say, I was happy to see Tristan go, but I'm also really waiting for Sonika to go home. I cannot stand her-- everything is so fake and posed, there's nothing natural or emotional about any of her performances.
I absolutely Love MacKenzie, his second performance last week was his best so far I think!
I loved MacKenzie from the start and he is pulling away for me as my favorite... it helped that he sang a song I love for his first, and a song I don't love for his second (Billy Jean I think it was?) but he made me love it.
Who was your favorite? My favorite was probably Trent in terms of performances, but I still have this burning love for MacKenzie. Also, SIA - I freaking love Sia.. I thought she was a great mentor and she has such a great portfolio of songs to choose from.
Who was your least favorite? It breaks my heart to say Dalton. I feel like he had a handful of songs that his voice works really well on, but as we stretch further it's becoming obvious that he just doesn't have the range. I'd love to see him in American Idiot on broadway though.. he tells a great story when he sings, a current rock-opera/broadway show could be a great fit for him.
What did you think of the results? Who would you have sent home instead? I was super happy with the results, I wasn't feeling any emotion from Sonika. These next couple of weeks are going to get tough, I don't want to see anyone else go!
I really can't say who will/should win. They're both amazing singers and last night was no exception. If I had to give an edge to someone I'd say Trent because I think he's grown the most whereas La'Porsha has been crazy good the whole time. Each time I saw/heard Trent I liked him a little more and now he can absolutely hold his own and is giving her a run for her money for sure!
Favorite moments? Moments you could have lived without? And what are we thinking of the final Idol winner?!
My favorite moment was probably Kelly Clarkson's medley - I'm not a super fan of hers, but it was impressive to hear just how many hits she has had, and bringing it back to Moment Like This a capella was a perfect ending to show where it all started... also, hands down best Idol song of all seasons.
I could have lived without a lot of the group singing.. I mean, it was cool to see everyone back but a lot of those people didn't win because they just weren't that good? I don't have any specific ones in mind, just overall it was all sorta cheesy.
TRENT WINSSSS!! I was SOOOO excited, it had been a few seasons of Idol since one of our favorites from auditions took the title. He was a very gracious winner, and showed that talent and a lot of hard work can get great things. I really hope he's an Idol that we hear a lot from on the radio - you just never know.
Lastly.. I liked Seacrest's signoff at the end.. but what the hell was the "for now" as the video cut out? REALLY!? what are you suggesting.. why are you leaving us hanging? If this was the farewell season, let it end. Ugh, that was irritating.
I also loved Kelly Clarkson's medley. I forgot how many songs she sang and I agree that the Moment Like This at the end was simply perfect.
YAY TRENT!!!!!!! I'm glad he won and hope that he is able to do something after Idol. Out of all the people on that stage last night, there's really only a handful that we still hear from. I hope he's one of them. I don't think this is the last we'll see/hear of La'Porsha either. With a voice like that SOMEONE is going to pick her up. No doubt.
I have heard rumors that Idol will be back in some format. It isn't going to be exactly the same as it is now, but I guess it will be similar (although I don't know what that means exactly). I just ask that they give us time to miss this one before they start bringing anything "back".
Im sad LaPorsha didn't win, she was my fave from the beginning. But super excited for Trent! And I hope he's able to make something happen now that the show is over. If anything I noticed from all the retrning idols last night is just how many winners I'd never heard of or completly forgotten about. I really hope that doesn't happen to him.
Like a creepy super fan, I googled LaPorsha this morning to see if she or Trent were going to be on any morning shows today and saw that she was signed by Motown Records immediatly after the show. So YAY!
And can we talk about JLO??? Daaaang... that was exciting?? I like her alot and maybe I'm a prude but all that booty shaking and striping was a bit over the top and kinda weird. She's definelty a great performer tho.
As for JLo - We fastforwarded through her performance after a few seconds - it was not my scene. Like no, you're not your man's mama.. but you are someone's mama! Get ahold of yourself!
I feel like Ruben has let me down twice now - I heard very little (if anything) from him post-Idol (Although I don't necessarily listen to radio where he'd get a lot of play) and then he was on Biggest Loser, lost some weight, and has clearly put it right back on. Come on Rubennnn!
And yeah! I looooved Ruben. So sad that his career just never happened :'(
