Does anyone know what causes random bottles of refrigerated breastmilk to go bad? My mom watches my LO while I am at work, and twice in the past two or three weeks she has had to dump a bottle of breastmilk because it smelled bad and LO refused it. I know two bottles isn't very many, and the rest of the bottles are always fine, but I'm just curious if anyone knows why this happens from time to time. Thanks in advance!
Maybe the lipase is a bit higher. I know most say this only happens with frozen but I've had it happen a few times I the fridge... But my LO will still take it. It's not bad, but some won't take it because it smells and tastes different.
High lipase would make it smell a bit funky you could scald the milk immediately after pumping. Someone also suggested adding a drop of vanilla extract to the bottle to make it taste better. I have not tried that, though.
