What people say to you...

Is anyone else getting tired of always talking baby to family/friends? With a blump like mine I know it's an easy topic for conversation but there's only so much to talk about then it gets awkward. Especially with my family, I'd like to talk about anything else sometimes. I don't want to rain on the parade but come on there's more going on than what's in my uterus...anyone else or am I being hormonal?

  • We haven't told many people other than my parents and my two best friends so it hasn't been too bad. But once we unleash the can of worms this weekend to my in laws who aim to be in constant communication now I can only imagine once they know...

I'm actually dreading tell the rest of our friends. Idk why. I just don't want to deal with it lol. I'm being crazy, I know.
  • We haven't told anyone yet, and I'm loving it for that very reason. We'll start sharing the news with our immediate families next weekend, but plan to ask them to keep it to themselves until we give them the okay to share with our aunts and uncles. We'll also slowly start telling our close friends, but we'll hold off on telling more casual friends and co-workers until week 16 at the earliest.
  • This is part of the reason I am waiting as long as possible to announce.  People are so annoying and I just don't have the patience this time around.

  • I have three friends due between 9/13 and 9/22, and with my EDD at 9/19, it is kind of inevitable to talk pregnancy all the time! But it's all baby #2 or more for each of us, so we also talk a lot about our current children. And my sister is due with her first (second pregnancy, but this is her rainbow baby and things are going well!) in June. Thankfully sharing the spotlight means we aren't always discussing me. That gets old quickly.
  • I agree with @camichael84 in that it isn't talked about too much yet.  Right now only my immediate family knows.  DH's side doesn't know yet and none our friends know.  This is our 3rd though, so I think the "excitement" just isn't the same as it is with the first.

I'm good with it either way.
  • This is also not me. We've only just started announcing to other immediate family and close friends and everyone couldn't be more happier for us.
I have control over how much I want to talk about baby and don't really have intrusive family or friends...
Or if I do then I probably filter/ignore it.
  • I'm still overwhelmed by the thought of having 3 under 3. Whenever my in laws try to talk about it, I squelch it pretty quick. I saying that I am not looking that far ahead yet and just want to enjoy our time with the boys for as long as we can.
I'm also so moody. So sometimes I'm super excited to talk about it and other times I'm like please shut up. I'm drowning in babies right now and really don't want to talk about adding another one into the mix. Like @sabriel1 said it's the "you guys are sure going to have your hands full" comments that really make me grind my teeth. No. Sh!$.

  • @mhilpisch10 I am in the same boat as you...well 3 under 3.5 and if I get told one more time I am crazy for having 3 kids I'm gonna burst! What's wrong with wanting a larger family? Just leave me alone....or give me a hug and say it's gonna be okay

  • Exactly @seitzy3 ! We want to have a big family (Granted this pregnancy came along quite a bit sooner than I would have liked) And I'm super excited for this new baby. But I'm very aware of how long you are pregnant for and know that we have plenty of time before baby #3 is actually here.

  • I am just now starting to tip from I love talking baby all the time to the few people who know to can you ask me about other things.  For the few weeks everything changed so fast and was very new but the last couple weeks is more like rinse and repeat.
  • this will be kind #5 for us, DH has three daughters from a previous marriage. And we've had so many comments. I was talking to a friend and said that this was our last and someone commented 'oh good, your running out of room in your house for all those kids' excuse me? None of our kids share a room now and this LO will be sharing with my 2 yr old who doesn't give two craps. So why does this lady! And even if we didn't have room, who cares!
  • @mamajen10414 -- that's so frustrating! We've been told more than once that we'll need a new house now since this is baby #2 and we only have 2 bedrooms. I always tell folks that the house is 100 years old and I feel certain it has been home to families larger than ours in that century. That said, we would love to move and have more room eventually, but still. Butt out, folks!
