STM's No Movement

I am due at the end of July so I know I am bringing up the rear at just 18+1 today.  I am fairly certain I felt my DD move the first time around 18 weeks and with a loss in Sep. I was hoping to feel this one sooner.  No luck.  I have felt nothing.  At my 15w u/s my doc did say the placenta was still a bit in the front, but I am just over analyzing everything.  I keep having bad thoughts that there is something wrong, too small, too weak etc. I have my a/s in about 1 1/2.

Any other STMs not feel movement yet?

Re: STM's No Movement

  • I felt some flutters but they are very much few and far in between. I have a titlted uterus apparently and keep telling myself that why I've felt so little. I'm 18 weeks  tomorrow. As long as I can get the heartbeat I'm okay. With DS I felt at 13. It'll come soon I'm sure.

  • Yes, @samantha1206  I have a doppler too, thank god for it!
  • Thanks @kdm06c  I don't know if the placenta is still that way or will stay, I guess we will check at my a/s.  I have felt little twinges, but those could easily be stomach sounds, gas, or baby...not really a way to tell.  Plus with my daughter I was very sure once it occurred, so I am anxiously waiting for that certainty.
  • Maybe your little one is on the opposite sleep schedule?  I rarely feel my baby move during the day (unless she gets annoyed by my super full bladder, pants cutting into my lower abdomen, etc.), but about 45 minutes before I go to bed she starts moving like crazy.
  • I'm 20w1d and am a STM - I've felt flutters but still nothing consistent and nothing strong enough to be felt externally. I had my A/S today and was watching him/her move all over the place. My placenta is in the back... I guess I'm just not one of those STM's blessed to feel her baby so much earlier the second time around! If you have a Doppler, hopefully you can take comfort in listening to baby's heartbeat for reassurance until your upcoming U/S.
  • I agree with PP. I didn't feel much movement until 20 weeks, and nothing real consistent. Now at 21 weeks I feel a little more. I've got an anterior placenta and am a little fluffy, so I'm sure it will come, and I will have feet all up in my ribs.
  • At 21 weeks, I still don't feel consistent movement.   Only when I sit down late at night after drinking a lot of water or scarfing down ice cream do I feel things that I am certain are baby's kicks.   I didn't feel much at all until 20 weeks, and I have a normal placenta, etc.  It's quite possible that  I just had so much gas that I had no hope of differentiating gas bubbles from baby flutters.  I'm gross.

  • Compared to my first pregnancy, hardly anything. I felt my DD just short of 12 weeks (and had the movement confirmed by OB while she was doing an ultrasound). Around that time, it was happening a few times a week, and as the weeks went on, it got stronger and more frequent. My placenta was posterior and I started my pregnancy about 30 pounds lighter. This pregnancy, I am heavier and my placenta is anterior. Right now, I am 18w3d, and I would say that I feel a little tiny thump maaaaaybe once a week. But if I lay in bed at night, pull up my shirt, and breathe slowly.....I can see from my belly button down, movement. It is like my tummy is doing a slow wave. However, while this is going on, I can't feel the movement....and I can only see it.

  • I'm only 17+4. I'm pretty sure I felt DD at 18 weeks. I think I might have felt flutters yesterday, but it was so faint I may have imagined it. I was expecting to feel something sooner too, but all our appointments indicate baby is healthy so far. Not worried to much, just more anxious to feel baby.

  • I didn't feel DS until 23 weeks. I was surprised to feel this baby "early", which was still around 20 weeks. Don't worry! I know that's easier said than done, but it's not so uncommon to feel them a bit later. Imagine how cozy they are, and be jealous of all their peaceful sleeping. ;)
  • @jen11797 That's kind of what I'm trying to tell myself. It seemed like DD was almost always moving and she was colicky, so fx this one is calmer.

  • I felt my first flutters right around the 18 week mark and they were totally sporadic. I'm 21w2d now and feel them more but still not like all the time.. I think it's probably normal not to feel too much yet :)

I know I'm not a STM, but I didn't feel anything until halfway through week 19, and now at 22 he's kind of got a schedule going on and my dh can feel him.

  • I haven't really been able to feel anything. I'm a STM, 20wks. We've seen baby move on ultrasound so I'll just have faith that I'll feel it in due time. I remember how uncomfortable the end of pregnancy can get so I'll take it for now ;)
  • This is my 3rd baby. I'm curently 21 weeks. I felt random weekly flutters or so I thought at around 16w but then nothing. At exactly 19w I started feeling light kicks daily.
  • Im a stm 18 weeks and I have felt things but just randomly nothing consistent.  Ill feel random flutters or randomly once a week at night Ive felt a random jab that startles me.
  • I just started feeling consistent movement at 22 weeks.  I'm not sure I felt much of anything at 18 weeks.  I'm sorry for your previous loss.  I hope you feel some movement soon and you can relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

  • Just started feeling more consistent movement at 19 weeks, and then it has gotten progressively stronger in the last week or so.  I am also in the same boat as you, with a loss, and thought I could feel something much earlier with my first, so once I started feeling movement it has been such a relief!
  • Well a few days shy of 19w and thinking I will be along with many of you ladies and heading into my a/s at 20w with no movement.  As it approaches I am barely making it 2 days before having to listen to the heartbeat again.  PGAL brain is getting to me.
