So for some fun for today, I thought I'd start this thread. What are some weird, crazy, unique, good or bad names you have heard? This is just for fun!
I'll start.... I know a couple that named their son Maps. Yup, you read that right. They call him Mapsie sometimes. Everytime I see pictures or hear his name, I think WTF? Apparently they heard it in a song...
I also saw not to long ago a girl named La-A. Pronounced La DASH A. Seriously?!
That also went along with a lady that named her daughter Emergenci. After the emergency room....UGH!! Poor kid.
Re: What are the craziest, most unique names you've heard?
Maps? Seriously. I thought mine was strange. Our friends named their daughter - Winter Sky
Son #1- 2/15/08
Son #2- 8/18/10
Baby 3 due 8/8/16
I wish I was kidding. Except it wasn't spelled like the name of the liquor, it had a "unique" spelling.

One of my aunts had a Ka-A in her class. I wanted to ask if that is how it is spelled on her Birth Certificate since most states won't allow symbols and whatnot. Crazy people, even if it is just a nickname

My aunt is a special ed teacher, she told us she's had a set of twins with the Lemonjello and orangejello names. But I Dont know them first hand to know if she's fibbing or not but my cousins names are 100% legit like on their birth certificate n ss cards..
There a plenty of crazy names out there to not repeat urban legends.
I think the worst was little girl (identical) twins who used to come into my studio. Alexandra, and Alexandria. And the mother insisted they be called by their full names, and got super annoyed when I mixed up the twin with the purple bow with the twin with the PINK bow. (They were two, so they were amok, and these were teeny tiny bows)
I gave up and called them both "Honey / Sweetie"
Perfectly nice names on their own, but whhhhy would you do that to your kids?
Edit: Also a student whose middle name was money.
A kid I went to school with was named Sir, as in "Yes, Sir". I guess his mother wanted to ensure her son was always addressed appropriately.
My friends mother was named Pansie. Her sisters were Posey, Rose and Cookie.
I have a friend name Kitty, which is usually a nickname, in this case its not.
On the Welsh side of my family, I have an aunt Val-doris and an uncle Rahno (Ron-o). These were the younger siblings. The elder girls in that generation were all "Mary-"s (Mary-Catherine, Mary-Theresa, Mary-Elizabeth, Mary-etc)...and the list goes as there were 15 kids.
My aunt used to say be careful of who you name your children after. She named her eldest daughter after a character in a book who was eccentric, dramatic and always the black sheep. My aunt was intrigued by her because female characters weren't written that way in her generation. My cousin turned out to be exactly like the character.
In fact, here is a second snopes article that shows this shit goes back to the Victorian era

Then again there are a lot of unusual names that we come across at the courthouse.
An example would be first name: Felony
I don't get riled up about la-a. I just like to call out liars and you wouldn't believe how much it comes up on the Bump. Like I said, everyone knows someone who knows someone. Maybe your mom is the only one who isn't lying. It's possible, I suppose. But I seriously side eye anyone who claims they know one.

Lately, there have been tons of Queens, Kings, Princes, and Princesses... which are only a tad odd by themselves, but we've been seeing a lot of combos too... think "Princess-Queen-Chanel" (yes, all one word) or "K'ingly", etc
Power names like that tend to be common in the AA communities we serve, while nature names are super common in the trendy hippy-type families - Stone, Lake, Sky, Tulip, Daffodil (not kidding)
And the middle-of-the-road, suburban types all tend to sound alike - Aiden, Jayden, Kayden, Zaiden, Mackenna, Makayla, Mackenzie, etc etc
At least those kids with interesting ones won't have to share a classroom with 5 other kids of the same name!
I get that he was a Musketeer and all, but that experience has made me really evaluate the shortening or nick names people will use for what I name my child.
Edited because words.
King James
Souri
A friend worked at a government registry office where people came to change their names. A girl arrived there on her 19th birthday to change her name to Jane. Her legal name was Repentofyoursins.

Bjorn.
Especially since he is only a couple months old, so he is often referred to as "Baby Bjorn."
And no, no one in that family is Norwegian.
I actually knew someone named Bjorn but it was pronounced b'jorn (you say the J) not byorn. He said he couldn't say the J sound for years so when he was small he called himself b'dorn.
