Obviously I know that these sort of tests are for entertainment purposes only, but they can be fun. Anyone tried these yet? I did both. They say boy.

I haven't but I'm entertained by the heart beat one and then the ultrasound thread. Because if it were a true test it looks like a lot of girls are to come in August!!

My grandfather swears by the pencil and string test. It was right with my previous kiddos. I haven't tried it yet with this one. It's fun though. I don't know anything about the Chinese Calender one though... now I'm curious.

The Chinese one says boy. I haven't heard about the pencil one. But if I go based on dreams, I'm having twin girls (one is a red head). Lol I've had 3 dreams about that so far.

What is the pencil test?

You get a sharpened pencil and stick a sewing needle with a little thread into the eraser. Using the string, you hold it above your wrist. It should start moving. Old wives tales say that it should move and change direction based on the number of times and sexes of babies you will have or have had. Vertically (hand to elbow) = boy, horizontally (back and forth) =girl. It should stop moving completely "between babies". We did it on my mom just for giggles and sure enough, 2 boys and 1 girl (she's in her 60's). Did it on my SIL who just had a girl & it said 2 girls. Just a fun little entertaining game. :-)

My mom did it for me when I told her I was preggos - and it said I would have 4, boy, girl, girl, boy. I did it to her and it said 2 girls and that's what she had

I know it's just a sily little game but, fun nonetheless

Alright, I did it. It swayed one time to indicate a girl and stopped and didn't start moving again. I have a son and this is my second pregnancy. However, after this I had to try the baking soda test... It kinda did both things. Lol so I'm still 50/50 on a gender over here.

but it did liven up my Sunday night! Lol

The Chinese calendar said a girl during my first pregnancy and it was right! Now it says a boy.....fingers crossed!

My sister had me try it. Lol You pee on baking soda. If it's a boy, it will fizz a ton. If it's a girl, it will either fizz a tiny bit or not at all. Mine says girl... So we'll see. She said it has something to do with a reaction between the testosterone in your urine and the baking soda. She's had a few friends do it lately and it was right for them.

It was correct for both lunar age and Gregorian calendar age for my son. This time around its saying boy for both again. Anywho - my husband's family only makes boys so it's probably right. I hope so. But I think this might be a girl.

needle test failed me. said i would have 2 boys and a girl. I have two boys and #3 bloodwork came back saying boy.

I did the needle test and Chinese calendar. Both say boy. According to the needle test, I'll be having twins next: a boy and girl. It's definitely entertaining.

I completely forgot I wanted to try the baking soda test. Maybe I'll give that a shot this weekend and see what it says!

I'm doing a little gender reveal with my and DHs family and think it would be fun to have a list with all the old wives tale results before we find out. So far, most swing boy. I think the heartbeat is the only one that goes girl, but I can't remember.

I used the Chinese calendar for my first two pregnancy and it was right ( girls ) and now it says boy! So I'm really hoping it doesn't let me down

Does anyone happen to know how long the pencil swings for each child? I have 2 boys and the pencil swings for boy for about a minute and then it clearly switches and swings side to side for about another minute. No idea how to calculate this. Lol

Chinese calender says boy...it was right with my 1st son but wrong with my 2nd, it said girl. So who knows! Lol

For fun I have done the Chinese gender with each of my first 3 pregnancies so of course I wanted to do it this time around too. The funny thing is I can't help but go off the opposite that it predicts as it has been wrong for all of my pregnancies. It says girl so maybe it's a boy like we are hoping. The string test says boy. But we are happy with either really a boy would just be nice since we have 2girls and 1boy

I did the Chinese calendar test using my due date ..& it said girl. Then I did it using conception date and I got boy ...
i wonder if it has to do with I'll be a year older by the time August rolls around ???
anyway guess I'm back to 50/50. ....

Chinese calendar says girl but it said boy for my DD and was wrong. We did the string ring test on the weekend ( my mothers suggestion) and it said boy, it said girl for my DD. It is a 50/50 chance of either I can't wait to actually find out.

There are so many Chinese gender charts online... I've looked at a few and got different predictions.... is there a certain one to use?? (Yes, I know it's a crap shoot anyway)
