Sorry for the uproar

I apologize for posting something that caused such a commotion. I posted this same post in the What To Expect community and we enjoyed making guesses and sharing ultrasound photos. Apparently this community isn't as welcoming and friendly as what I'm used to, so I won't be posting again. I am an educated person and I'm aware that only an ultrasound tech can accurately tell you the gender, but normally this is one of the fun parts of pregnancy. I'm sorry for some of you that can't see the fun in trying to read ultrasounds, but you could just keep your comments to yourself instead of being rude.

You must be new here. Please post this in the "post ALL U/S pictures here". Plus, it is unethical for a Lab tech to do this.

Hey there noob noob noobersome... We avoid these types of posts otherwise there'd be like 5 pages deep of people posting ultrasounds asking people who have ZERO training in reading these things... (I see that you are having a baby frog, congrats!) It looks like you just joined so I would suggest lurking for a few more days and getting a general feel for the community here... we are super supportive, a bit snarky if need be, but we're a good time. Stick around... also... you may wanna edit your post and label it gif party

Not sure if the bump will allow you to edit to delete the u/s and follow pp's advice of posting it in the u/s thread. If not, don't worry, we all get a pass at some point or another.

Take a deep breath before going postal and storming out. We are nice, supportive women. However, on this board and basically everywhere on TB, asking people to guess your child's sex based on blurry photos, is frowned upon. We've been an established community since October, so please don't come here, post a picture we can't interpret, and then call us meanies for telling you gently that it's not something we generally do.

I noticed the name before opening and didn't recognize it, but I figured that it was someone deeply hurting, and was 100% going to jump into the post and start giving my condolences and a creepy internet hug. I had literally JUST read the "It's a girl?" thread and then refreshed a minute later and saw "Goodbye" and my stomach dropped. Glad it's not a terrible loss and is instead just a mad lady who didn't get the answer she wanted about her baby's genitals.

Omg my heart dropped to the ground when I saw the "goodbye".

I found that the women on here ARE really supportive, kind and funny. I was kinda late to the party myself and once I started posting after first trimester everyone was welcoming. I also found that the comments have eased a lot of my anxiety. I'm sorry you feel that way.

You know what I find interesting. In the 3 day waiting period, she made an account, posted her picture, found her BMB and then nothing..... She did not lurk to see how posting her bad U/S picture from a Lab tech would be taken, or a DD, or a "good bye" post would be accepted.

When I go into a new community, area, hell, even a new room, I chill for a minute and check out the vibe. I do not just open my mouth and demand everyone notice me or change their 'vibe' to fit mine. And if I dont fit there, I just go away quietly. I don't starting yelling how mean they are or rude not not kissing my butt.

But you know what, I guess I am a mature but mean mommie.

I do apologize for the subject name. I changed it during some down time at work, and I didn't realize at the time how it could be taken. I do agree that it is misleading, and I apologize for leading you to think you needed to offer condolences; however, I still think most of you are rude about how you decide to respond. Maybe I should have browsed some before posting, but I honestly don't have that much time and didn't see the harm in posting my original forum. Apparently I was wrong, but it's sad that some of you are so rude to people who are just excited about their pregnancy. This community had bad reviews about rudeness and blowing things out of proportion, but I thought I would see for myself. Once again, I am sorry for the subject name and I will change that because I do agree that it wasn't a good choice at all, but I do not apologize for my opinion on the rudeness of some of you.

I'm pretty sure it's rude to show up somewhere and toss a picture of your baby's genitals in a stranger's face. It's also rude to show up somewhere and not read the rules or get a feel for the tone of the board before you post. I don't know you so your opinion means zilch.

Your original post was rude. If you don't have time to lurk or participate in our community, we don't have time to talk about your baby's SEX (WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS GENDER). You're wasting our time, clogging our forum, and acting as though you were the only person with an ultrasound scan who wishes they could know the sex of their child in advance. Hey the thousands of other members here are waiting until their anatomy scans and busy chatting and enjoying polite baby conversation all around you. There's one thing I don't get... If you already have a very loving community you are part of, why do you need to come ask on another community that have "a mean and rude reputation" wouldn't your precious time better be invested with people who know you and care? Guess what, I'm genuinely excited for some ultrasound posts in this community, US posts from girls I have been chatting with for months!
Maybe go in the waiting room full of pregnant women at your OB and ask them without much introduction, they won't find it odd at all!!

I would like to add I am very disappointed no one qfp. How are people who are asleep supposed to keep up with this?

Also I don't understand why this would be fun. What if every one of us posted one of these? The board would be full and legitimate questions would get lost in the mess.

@LilLambie OP posted two blurry US photos and said that at 16.5 weeks a lab tech gave her an unauthorized US and wanted us to tell her if we thought it was a girl. Her A/S is next week but she just couldn't wait! SQUEE!

This irritates me so much! We have a great supportive community and respect and support is earned by giving it. You have given none you are random stranger who already had a community it appears you just came to stir the pot. I also frequent what to expect and can tell you the bumps tone is well known and snarky and no nonsense. And I will be looking to see if you post complaining about this board there with the truth of what happened.
