Cervical Position

I checked my cervix all the time when I was TTC and I just can't help but check it periodically now that I'm preggo. I of course wash my hands before but just wondering what is a normal position? I asked my doctor just out of curiosity but still waiting back so thought i would get other opinions. Mine is low and hard- 8 weeks 1 day. Doesn't it usually rise up higher or does that happen later in pregnancy?

Re: Cervical Position

  • My doctor told me not to check myself as your cervix can get very sensitive and easily irritated once you're pregnant.  He won't even do an internal exam until the second trimester.

  • Personally I leave the internal stuff to the pros. I'd have no idea what I'm looking for and I'd probably just hurt myself.
  • I'm not sure what it's supposed to be during the early stages but mine is low and hard as well. I only checked it once and I won't be again. I'm too worried about irritating it and causing spotting.

  • Yeah I probably won't touch it again....I haven't even had sex since we found out because I've been so nervous about everything!

Same. Poor DH, he's being so great. I really want to I'm just paralyzed with fear.

  • Leave the internal exams to the doctors, it's easy to create issues  by irritating  your cervix.

With that being said I believe I've  read that it is unique  for each person  and their position  can change  at various  times throughout  their pregnancy. Eventually  it will rise up, but again that  timing is unique to each person.
  • Mine is medium and weirdly bumpy. Idk. I had my internal exam at 6.5 weeks and the doc didn't seem to have any concerns, so I won't worry.
