Ladies, get yourself some unisome!

So pregnancy has been awful for me, the morning (all day) sickness just makes me so miserable. I spoke to my doctor and they said they don't like to prescribe the heavy duty morning sickness medications because some of them have been linked to birth defects lately ( I believe the one they stopped prescribing was zofran). Anyways she said an holistic doctor at the practice discovered unisome for her patients which is an OTC sleeping aid that is completely safe for pregnant woman. It is a class B drug. She explained that is coats the stomach and prevents morning sickness the next day. I tried it the past two nights and my life has been amazing!! I no longer hate being pregnant. I'm not going to use it everyday just because I'm hoping the morning sickness subsides the next few weeks. But days where I know are going to be crazy busy and I need to feel well I will take it. If it it hard for you to function everyday you should try this!

Re: Ladies, get yourself some unisome!

  • I actually read about it with my last pregnancy which I had just a little nausea with. I'm not super sick this time and it's only occasionally but when I do get nauseous It's like I am about to get sick right now and it's super strong! I hope it doesn't get any stronger, if it does I will definitely try this! I've read to take Unisom with Vitamin B6

  • The medication diclegis that a lot of people on the board have been talking about is B6 and an extended release unisom. Has been very helpful for some. Sadly it turns me into a zombie and I can't function te next day when I take it so I get to power through. Falling asleep in the operating room is frowned upon so no more for me.

  • I'm taking Unisom and B6 as well. It doesn't make my nausea go away but it does take a bit of the edge off. Today my nausea is at it's worst and I've already thrown up twice and it's barely 9:00 a.m. The B6 and Unisom isn't doing much for me today :(
  • I take one unisom every night with dinner.  It doesn't completely make it go away but it sure helps to sleep well.
  • I was wondering how well this worked. My Nurse told me to take B6 25mg 3x/ day and a half a tablet of unisom. I haven't been hit with MS yet but I've been buying ginger and Peppermint in preparation. I think I'll grab the B6 and unisom today, too.

  • I started taking Unisom and a prenatal with a mega amount of B6 the other night, and I feel like a different person.  I've actually been worried that my symptoms are gone!  I went from feeling faintly nauseous and unable to eat most stuff all day, to feeling pretty much normal.
  • I just started on Diclegis on Friday, it has helped so much. I took a day or so for me to figure out the timing of when to take it. I would wait to long and my MS would hit with a vengeance. But I think I have the right formula down now. So far I don't feel any negative side effects (sleepiness) only relief from MS. Good Luck!
