Muscle Pain Remedies

I thought about posting this in the symptom thread, but I don't think this is a symptom of pregnancy, per se. More like a symptom of me sleeping weird last night. Anyway, I pulled/strained/something my arm, neck, and shoulder and I'm trying to figure out how to work this out without ibuprofen. DH has already left for the morning, so I can't just ask him for a massage. Advice?

Soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts!   Massage  is a nice but expensive  option, unless you can convince your significant  other  to give you one.

  • If it's swollen at all, use ice (on for 15 min, off for 15 min) and rest it for a few hours.
If it's just tender, heat will work better, but be careful with a hot bath because if it's hot enough to loosen your muscles it may be too hot for baby. A heating pad or going for a walk will actually work just as well and get the blood flowing to the area. Then you can do some light stretching or self-massage.

  • My paper from my dr says you can use Tylenol, 2 every 6 hours or 2 extra strength every 8 hours.

  • Got out the microwavable hot pad from period days and that's working pretty well.
  • TENS machine! That works well for muscles that are tense/cramping because they are damaged but they need to release to heal.
