Magic Merlin Suit

My LO is still not sleeping through the night since we stopped swaddling and someone recently suggested the Magic Merlin sleepsuit but I'm confused... it's for ages 6-9 months but I keep seeing that you shouldn't put it on a baby that can roll? What 9 month old can't roll? Or is it not suggested for babies that know how to roll IN the suit? My LO can roll but from what I understand the suit makes it hard for them to move,  so is it safe for me to try this thing? Any other mama's use it with babies that can roll?

I heard if your baby rolls, you should not use it because it's harder for them to move. I think tou should skip it as it can be dangerous. Good luck mama

We stopped using ours around 6 months. If your baby managed to roll in it they'd have a hard time flipping back over. I think the "6-9 months" thing is more for sizing and not necessarily age.

ETA Our LO isn't sleeping through the night either, he wakes up 2-3 times a night. The suit never helped much. And now we're just using a Halo sleep sack.
  • My friend used one and stopped when her LO could roll. I also read it's not good to constrain them at night anymore past 6 months bc of motor skills...something about they need "practice" to move at night. No idea of this is true but I found it interesting.
  • When my daughter started rolling over, she still couldn't roll in the Sleepsuit for another couple months.
The first time she rolled in the Sleepsuit was the last time we put her in it.
  • We bought the 3-6 and 6-9 as they were on sale. Really thought it would help get her out of her swaddle and have tried countless times without Any luck and now she rolls no problem so can't use it as she can flip no problem in it. Were having such a hard time with our wee girl. She won't even sleep with 1 arm out. Have tried the zippity zip which failed. Tried just straight nothing for countless nights but that just ended in hours or hours of none sleeping. So I feel your pain!
  • We use the Halo Sleepsack Swaddle. The size small is still big enough for my long chunky LO and it allows his arms to be out. He rolls all over, so that was a must. The wrap around his torso still helps him feel secure. He just wasn't ready to sleep unswaddled but I was terrified he'd roll with his arms pinned and suffocate! Without this swaddle I'm certain we'd be walking zombies running on no sleep.
  • Even though our LO can roll, she seems to still desire her Sleepsuit.  She can still roll back over in it without any problems. We use it during the day for her naps and at night use a sleep sack.
