What are you drinking??

Help. I've been drinking a lot of water, but now that I'm nauseous I have been wanting something other than water but can't figure out exactly that would be.. ha! Is there anything you're loving to drink lately? Hopefully if I hear suggestions something will sound good.

Re: What are you drinking??

  • I've been enjoying ginger ale. It's not something I usually go for, but it does help with nausea a bit, and it's caffeine free. I try to limit to one can every other day though because I'm weird about sugar and my sister said her doctor said no to diet drinks. Mine didn't have any restrictions, but I figure the chemicals can't be good.

  • I love seltzers with a splash of juice, the bubbles settle my stomach.  I'm also a big fan of ginger beer and Sipp sodas (the vanilla ginger is amazing) when I want a treat, since I can't have my glass of wine anymore.
  • I drink a ton of the Dasani sparkling water in lime. Also lots of decaf Irish breakfast tea and rooibos tea. Im not a big fan of sugary drinks, so these probably sound rather boring.

  • @housewifehobbyist Now that is a good idea!! Some seltzer and orange juice.. that actually sounds good right now. Thanks!

  • I'm on board with the ginger ale. There's also an apple soda that I like called Manzanita Sol... I popped it in the freezer the other day until it got slushy and it was so good. Other than that, natural flavored sparkling water.

I'm having trouble with water too, so my doc suggested chewing crushed ice to help stay hydrated.

  • Soda water with some sort of water additive might be good. You still get the hydration plus some flavor
  • I've been drinking iced tea. Lots and lots of iced tea. Lol

  • I've been chugging water but I get tired of it and kind of miss my red wine at the end of the day. When I feel a little nauseated I drink Sprite or even if I just need something different.

  • I second the iced tea. I've been drinking a lot of water too but it has to be cold with ice.
  • I have a soda stream that carbonates water. I use it without the sugary syrups you can buy and just put a splash of juice I  my fizzy water. It seems to make drinking game water more appealing.
  • Ginger ale and cranberry juice.

  • I like La Croix, it's a sparkling water drink that comes in a ton of different flavors.  Also, I enjoy having some sparkling apple cider or sparking white grape juice in a wine glass with dinner! Tea is also good, I've been drinking mint, ginger, and rooibos.

  • I'm actually finding it easier to drink water now I'm pregnant. Normally I really struggle and never feel thirsty for it, but now I find myself actually wanting it. For me the struggle is cutting out diet coke, I was trying to do it before I got pregnant as it's linked to so much bad stuff.... But it's so addictive! I'm two weeks in without one now (since bfp), and hoping that if i kick it for pregnancy I can stay off it afterwards:)
  • Gatorade was a big one for me when I was really sick a few weeks ago. Mostly now I'm flavoring my water when its getting boring. unsweetened tea both hot and cold help break it up for me.

  • Lemon lime seltzer, or ginger ale if I'm really nauseous....all I want is something like shaved ice, slushies, or anything with crunchy ice. I'm trying to stay on the wagon after my ICEE addiction last pregnancy o:)
  • LaCroix, all day every day!

  • Love LaCroix! Also, Poland Springs sparkling waters, especially the raspberry lime flavor. And oddly enough, milk, which I never drink but had a huge glass of it last night.

  • Try lemonade! I was doing juice and seltzer, but I've graduated to just juice. It seems like that helps bring up my blood sugar (maybe?) and then I can stomach food.

I'm digging Boathouse Farms cherry smoothie, it's sweet and tart. Also bought some V8 Fusion pomegranate blueberry, which is good too.

  • Tons of milk, and a ginger ale every so often.
  • Also CranGrape with crushed ice.
  • At dinner tonight I ordered strawberry lemonade. It was the first thing that has tasted good in a long time.

  • Old fashioned sprite and crackers helps me with my nausea
  • Kroger brand seltzer with lemon and with cranberry/lime. Also this bottle of water which is a lot less full now that my cat decided it would be a good thing to knock over.

But I'm going to get ginger ale at the store pretty soon. Serves me right, starting pregnancy symptoms only hours after my last grocery store trip.
  • I talked to my doctor about this because water was making my nausea worse. He said anything is fine as long as i am drinking. So my go tos at the moment are milk, seltzer, juice, lemonade and ginger ale depending on how bad my tummy feels at the moment.

  • Mostly water. Sometimes apple juice. And whenever I feel like drinking beer I grab a root beer insted.

  • Apple juice, milk, and fruit punch Capri suns..
  • I know this is maybe not the best but I have NEVER been a big water drinker and I like to get a lot of my water from watery fruits. Been jamming on apples, grapes, kiwis and oranges. Also pregnancy has made me appreciate water a lot more, though omg all the peeing is insane.
  • I normally drink soda and sometimes juice. But this time around I want nothing to do with soda and I have only been drinking juice or tea.
  • So far water all the time always. I like to add crystal light or a slice of lemon. My camelback is basically tied to my hip.

For my new, more modest amount of caffeine I have tea in the morning. English Breakfast is suddenly too hard on my stomach so I've been drinking up my stash of oolong. I think I'll buy some white tea soon, the oolong is kind of spendy in the long run and I don't care for green tea.

  • Water, but I'm not a big water drinker either so sometimes I'll put a few drops of lemon juice in it and that really helps. Ginger ale or Sprite once in a while if I'm feeling really nauseous although it usually ends up making me feel really uncomfortable from the carbonation.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Ginger ale and cranberry juice.
  • I can't handle anything carbonated now... it seems to make my bloating and appetite that much worse so I've been avoiding it like the plague.  Mostly plain water for me, sometimes tea or decaf coffee... anything ice cold seems to help settle my stomach.

  • I'm normally a big water drinker but plain H2O has been really unappealing lately! When the queasiness isn't bad, I like orange juice for a boost, or--this will sound weird but bear with me--warmed up grapefruit juice with a little allspice, cloves and honey is soothing and has a nice wake-up vibe from the citrus and spices! Simply Apple juice and G2 are also my go-to drinks at home when I know I need to hydrate but don't really feel like anything.
