4 month sleep regression???

We had a nightmare night last night. The baby went down at 9:30 and woke up at 12:30 to eat. He woke up inconsolably crying two minutes after I put him down. Took me a good fifteen minutes to get him back to sleep. But, he wouldn't let me put him down. I finally got him to sleep in the bouncer and he slept for a good four hours. Is this part of the sleep regression? I what am I doing wrong?

Re: 4 month sleep regression???

  • No way to tell if it's the dreaded 4 month sleep regression!  Just wanted to say - try to not ask yourself that last question.  I hope the next night was better!  If it wasn't - know that it will get better, it's normal to go through a rough patch, and it is not your fault.  Or baby's, or anyone's.

  • Oh goodness we are going through a funky phase too. I have always held my daughter for part of her nap then lay her down in her vibrating napper. It used to work for the most part ... Lately she will be in a deep sleep and as soon as I try to lay her down she starts crying ... Agree with PP just remember it won't last forever and it will get better lol ...

I don't think you're doing anything wrong  I honestly think between growth spurts, wonder weeks, sleep regression and so much development going on sometimes it's just hard for babies to sleep!
  • We went to the doctor, my mom suspected ear infection, and she was right. With 24 hours of antibiotics and some tylonal, he's already doing better. Whew!!!!
  • My guy was wide awake from 2 am to 5 am last night. Didn't seem angry about anything, just awake. I'm hoping it was just a one night thing.....
