  • @amberliz99 ANy day is good for peanut butter cookies and home made pizza! Yum.

My FFFC *puts flame suit on*: I don't like Doritos. I had three coupons for free large bags and gave them away to people in the store. Also, the Super Bowl commercial was sort of creepy...

  • @kwife15 I don't get the big deal about Doritos either.

  • @kwife15 - The commercial gave me the creeps too but H and MIL thought it was hilarious...

I hate when people talk about loving their pets before they moved/had a baby/got a new job/ got married and now they are just annoyed by them so they are going euthanize/take to the shelter/give away said animal. If you have a flaky enough personality to love a living creature and then just stop because they have become inconvenient, don't get a pet. Also when you got this pet did you not know that you would experience any of these life changes eventually? Or that one day your dog/cat would get old (just like people do) and become more of 'a hassle' to take care of? I can't tell you how many of these posts I see on a daily basis and they drive me insane. Pets are family, if you disagree don't get one.
This!! But then I feel like a hypocrite bc we had to give my dog to my mom :( I got her when I was 16 so she's very familiar with my moms house. Well we moved into my grandmas and live right across the road. Well she loves my moms farm and kept running across the busy street to swim in the manure :s So we decided it'd be best to keep her there instead of seeing her get hit by a car. But I hate not having her so we visit her almost daily!

Ps we have 40acres so fencing was not an option and she's a retriever and needs lots of exercise so a leash wasn't an option.
  • @DeePaddy24 Oh man. That made me crack up.

My H has gained weight and it's noticeable and I want to tell him to stop it. But since I ate Frosted Flakes and chips for dinner last night - I feel like he might just laugh in my face. But I still really want him to get skinnier - while I get fatter.
My husband is the only one gaining weight this pregnancy....
    Me (31) & DH (32)
    Married 9/27/2014
    DD Born 6/23/16
    Baby #2 Due 3/7/20
  • @Hbraun200 - That is completely different from giving your dog away to a stranger that you found on facebook or craigslist. I am not unreasonable, in some rare cases people are justified in rehoming but it has to be done responsibly.

@courtjack My H has put on probably double the weight I have. Probably because I used to be the one trying to cook healthy and workout and now I eat pancakes for dinner and fall asleep on the couch at 7:30.

My husband doesn't gain weight and it makes me rage. I make the man a pre-breakfast meal (protein shake with milk, fruit and PB...400 calories), a breakfast (oatmeal with walnuts, raisins and butter...400-500 calories), he eats a large lunch at work, then he eats my pre-workout snack I make for him each day (nuts, cheese and trail mix...450 calories or so), then he eats my post-workout snack I make for him each day (apples, banana and PB snack pack...also 350-400 calories or so), then he eats dinner and THEN he eats desert.  He works out 3 times a week and 1 time a week it is "just" yoga.  And he still doesn't gain weight.  I work out (hard...well, less so during pregnancy) 5 times a week roughly, eat decently, can look at a cookie and gain 5lb.

That's infuriating. Damn men and their metabolism.
  • @MeganF08   I totally and completely agree with you.  Especially after the week I've had.  My sweet fur baby, Javier, has had this lump on his side for a LONG time.  On Wednesday, it started leaking and then Wednesday night it pretty much burst open.  I will spare the details but lets just say it was not pretty.  Yesterday I rushed him to the vet were he had emergency surgery to remove the lump.  My vet says now that the lump is removed he will be okay for several more years (he will be 12 in May and is a Mini Schnauzer).  I am SO glad he's okay.  And even though I have a baby coming, it didn't even occur to me to do anything different.
  • I'm getting really sick of my mom getting baby stuff for me. We got rid of a lot of things because we thought we were done, so when we found out we were expecting again, I found really good deals on yard sale sites, etc to purchase all the stuff we had sold.
My mom has some grandma friends, who she hangs out with while she watches our kids for us, and now they are all offering baby stuff that THEIR daughters want to get rid of, which we don't need! I told one grandma we need a baby bathtub, so one had one and she is giving it to us - great! Now my mom is like, I'm also getting her swing and a pack n play. I don't need two pack n plays! I don't need two swings! And it'd be one thing if she were getting great deals, but she paid this woman $75 for a USED swing, which is almost identical to the one I already got for like $30!
I think what it comes down to is that she doesn't know how to just say "No, we don't need anything" or feels guilty for some reason, so she keeps accepting shit we don't need! And paying for it! I told her she can keep it at her house. We have a small, 3 bedroom townhouse that is PACKED with stuff and already don't have room for 3 children, we do not need all baby supplies in duplicate!! Ahhh!!

To me, this is totally different than just giving up on your dog because you're tired of her, or she's annoying. You rehomed her for her safety, and still see her almost daily, like you said, so it was a good choice in my book!
  • @WinniethePoohsPants - Ugh, I hear you.  I have no suggestions but I just wanted to commiserate.  I could NOT concentrate on anything other than my belly bouncing around the last time I was in the mood.  H doesn't seem to mind but *I* do.
  • My FFFC is that my feelings towards my cat did change when my DD came along. I was one of those crazy ladies whose phone was full of pics of the cat. Then baby came and I almost immediately changed. I couldn't stand when she'd try to get on my lap because she'd almost always stand on my incision from my c-section. Over time, I mostly just feel sorry for her, that we don't have the time or energy to care for her the way we did (litter always gets changed a little late, nails don't get clipped as often, etc), and that my DD is always so mean to her (which obviously we don't allow, but sometimes she sneaks a body slam on her before we can stop it). That being said, I made a commitment when we got her and I absolutely would never "get rid of her" by any means. She's with us til the end. But, I have realized I will never get another pet. I can barely handle the commitments I have already!

@WinniethePoohsPants  - We have gotten some stuff from the Adam and Eve website and I think I have one from Pure Romance.  It really depends on what you want it to do and how much you want to spend.  Every website I've seen does a good job of explaining the functionality and restrictions (not for use in bath/shower, don't use lubes, etc.), so you just have to decide what you want from it.  Bonus points for anything you will use with H after you re-gain your confidence!

  • @DeePaddy24 - Me too! I haven't found an acceptable substitute for dealing with work stress either so now instead of winding down with a glass of wine, I just go to sleep ridiculously early.
  • Im seriously considering investing in a dildo because I'm becoming increasingly self conscious about my appearance during sex. If anyone has any recommendations lemme know.
I have no idea what mine is called. It's from college, but has served me well the past 7 years. I'll try to find it. I don't like how I either, so sex is difficult for me to get into right now.

  • Another reasonable time to rehome a pet is military service. My parents got their first dog from friends who were re stationed to England. The puppy was 6 months old and would have to be in quarantine for 6 weeks if they took her. My parents took her instead and we had her for 16 years. Best dog ever!
